Morgan County woman missing since Thursday

A Morgan County woman has been missing since Thursday, and family members are asking for help finding her.

DeVona Burley Rothrock was last seen around 2:45 p.m. at her house in Morgan County, according to Rothrock's niece Andrea Wiles Sandlin. Rothrock's 18-year-old son, a student at Monrovia High School, was the first person to notice something may have been wrong. He said he got home after school Thursday and found the door open and her purse, ID and keys still inside. Hamburgers she had been cooking were still on the stove.

Anyone with information on where Rothrock may be is asked to call the sheriff's office at (765) 342-6614.
 
So the father in law saw her get into this car..
Does he live there?
 
Do they think she left on her own according by getting into the vehicle? Maybe FIL recognized 'it' as someone from her circle of peeps :dunno:

ETA: It doesn't sound like it though - Last seen getting into `a black two door Pontiac looking car`.

ETA2: It also SEEMS like DeVona`s niece is her only voice. :moo: :cow:
 
A different news source reported that they are searching for her, although they could just be speaking in general terms to imply that she is missing.

MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Morgan County are searching for a woman who has been missing since Friday.

Devona A. Rothrock, 47, was last seen in Monrovia, Indiana around noon. She is described as a 5’6″ with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Police said they are currently investigating the circumstances around Rothrock’s disappearance.

Anyone with information on Rothrock should call police at (765) 342-5544 or email crimetips@morgancounty.in.gov.

DeVona's FB lists her as living in Denver, CO. It also states she is from East Rutherford, NJ. https://www.facebook.com/devona.burleyrothrock/about?section=living

I also found an obituary for DeVona's sister which states that this sister was born in Louisville, KY. Granted, DeVona was born 17 years after this sister was born in Louisville (and she may have been born on a trip, rather than the family living in Louisville) but it still shows that DeVona may have family or other ties in many cities.

One of the articles was updated today...this is the only additional info that stood out to me:
Rothrock's father-in-law said he saw her getting into a dark Pontiac two-door around 2:45 am., but couldn't tell if she was getting in on her own or if she was being forced to do so.

It still says the Morgan County Police Department is not actively searching for her.
The Morgan County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a missing person's report had been filed for a woman by the name of Devona Rothrock, but said that they were not actively searching for her.

nvestigators in Morgan County suspect foul play in the disappearance of 47-year-old Devona Rothrock.

The Morgan County Sheriff's Department confirms they are searching for Rothrock. Other than that they'll say very little about this case, although the sheriff did say, this is a very "bizarre" situation.

Police officers from around Morgan County spent Monday morning searching a rural wooded area near Monrovia, searching for any clue into the disappearance of Devona RothRock.

"Scary," said neighbor Lucas Ewing. "I mean it's crazy to think that something would happen around here."

This has bothered me since I read that. I put it together as bothersome with this item mentioned in the first post:

Hamburgers she had been cooking were still on the stove

So around 2:45 she might have been cooking hamburgers. I wonder if she was making them for someone? Did she usually eat a late lunch? Did she just come home from work (did she work?) Was she making them for her son for when he came home from school?

I really need to quit getting hung up on the small details, but they drive me crazy LOL.

2:45 AM, which makes it even weirder
 
I think the AM was a typo, just a couple sentences earlier in the article they had stated 2:45PM.
 
Just jumping in here. Maybe her son had a sports practice or something that evening.. or any type of activity and they were planning to eat a quick dinner after school. Or perhaps she was planning to go ahead and cook the burgers while she had a few minutes free so they could be reheated quickly in the microwave later either by herself or the son.

The fact that her husband has not returned from out of town speaks volumes, IMO.
 
I was shocked to see that there are no new updates. A quick look at her niece's facebook shows DeVona is clearly still missing. Apparently the lead detective is on vacation too. There is literally no media coverage of this missing mother even this close to the holidays! This one may be totally on us, WSers.

I think my first few question are where is her husband? Why hasn't he spoken to the media? Is he still in Cincinnati? Why? I've seen no indication of them being separated or anything, has anyone else?

And who is looking after her son?
 
:bump: for DeVona. Still nothing in MSM. Her poor family, her poor son.
