Found Deceased MI - Jina Collins, 19, Flint, 31 December 2013

FLINT (WJRT) - (01/21/14) - White said Collins was last in the area of Pettibone Avenue and Fenton Road, Dec. 31 between 10-11 p.m., wearing jeans, boots and a gray hooded sweatshirt. <snip>

(04/02/14) - Crime Stoppers is now offering a cash reward for information that helps police find 19-year-old Jina Collins.
She was last seen in Flint on New Year's Eve - Dec. 31. A Flint Police detective is now assigned to the case too. That is also new.
"Her baby needs her desperately," said Donalee Ward, Collins' mother. "He cries for her every day.

For Jennifer White, sister of 19-year-old Jina Collins who went missing Dec. 31, 2013, the event provided hope and empathy knowing other people are going through what she is.
"I'm so thankful for this event. It's good to know other people have felt the same feelings, the not knowing. That's the worst pain in the world. Not knowing what happened, not having answers," White said. "It gives us a chance to show that the missing are not forgotten, and to hopefully find answers."

Last New Year's Eve, Collins vanished from somewhere near Pettibone and Fenton Road on Flint's south side.

"We don't know anything. We don't. All we know is that she is missing," White said.

Since then, there have been a lot of sleepless nights for White, who now cares for Collins' 2-year-old son.

"It's hard to take care of him and know his mom is out there missing. I hurt for him, I do," White said.

White is convinced that someone knows something but won't speak up.

It&#8217;s a similar story for seven other women from the Flint area, all who have gone missing in recent years without a trace.

Elizabeth Land was last seen in February of 2009 in Flint after leaving to meet up with a friend at a local bar.

Sylvia Galvan was last seen in October of 2011 in Mt. Morris.

Jina Collins was last seen New Year&#8217;s Eve in 2013 at the corner of Fenton and Pettibone Road in Flint.
Laquandra Slater was last seen in December of 2016 in Flint Township. Her car was found abandoned in Flint near Atherton and Van Slyke Road.
Presley Rau, also known as Amy Jo, was last seen August of 2017 in Flint.
Claudia Wilson was also last seen August of 2017 in Flint. Her possessions were left behind.
Brianna Vibert was last seen July of 2017 in Flint.

The woman’s body that was found in an abandoned building on Lapeer Road near Dort Highway last month has been identified as Jina Collins, a woman who went missing in 2013.


Flint Police Chief Terence Green confirmed the woman’s identity to MLive-The Flint Journal during the afternoon hours on Wednesday, June 15.


Michigan State Police found the remains of Collins around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 26. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The department is asking anyone with information on the incident to contact Detective Warren Williams at 810-237-6977.



Collins was reported missing on Dec. 31, 2013. She was last seen on Flint’s south side near Pettibone Avenue and Fenton Road.



Crime Stoppers of Flint and Genesee County is still looking for information regarding her unsolved case.
