Thai police say a language teacher they have arrested for rape is a dangerous wanted Texas man who led a double life using several fake indentities. They say they were unaware of his background until contacted by the US Embassy who informed them he was wanted for assaults in Harris and Denton Counties.

He has now been charged with the 2011 rape and injury of a woman who worked in a Bangok jewelry store.

Erickson was arrested in Moo Ban Klang Muang in Samut Prakan's Muang district, Wednesday. The article doesn't state how long he has been in Thailand, but his work history in schools :( there seems extensive. Authorities say he will be tried and serve his sentence for any crimes in Thailand, before any extradition requests are granted.

'Police have arrested American Thomas Andrew Erickson on warrants for sex crimes allegedly committed in the United States and Thailand.
Thomas Andrew Erickson, 47, who is also known as Andrew McLean or Barry Stewart....also went by Andrew Gillis Mclean and UK citizen Barry Stuart Wolfenden.'....

'After learning that the US had already revoked Erickson’s passport, police also learned that a jewellery shop assistant in Bangkok’s Bang Rak district had lodged a complaint against Erickson in early 2011 over an alleged rape and attack that left her seriously injured.'

I wonder why Thai authorities didn't 'know' about the complaint lodged by their own citizen 3 years ago, until the US gave them info?

'Prawut said Erickson opened a language school behind Khon Kaen University. "Based on our inquiries, he assaulted many victims in Thailand," he said. "Some victims were lecturers at famous private and state universities. These victims came to him as they wanted to improve their English skills. After the assaults, they did not lodge complaints because they felt humiliated." '
