The young woman in this case apparently met the man whose apartment she fell from on Tinder. Police are calling the death suspicious and the investigation is continuing.

Police have positively identified a woman who died after she fell from a Surfers Paradise high-rise apartment building.

The woman has been identified as 26-year-old Warriena Tagpuno Wright from Lower Hutt, New Zealand.

Around 2.20am on Friday officers were called to the Wahroonga Place building after receiving reports that a woman had fallen from a balcony.

Police have confirmed the death is being treated as suspicious.

......The 28-year-old man who is the sole occupant of the apartment, Gable Tostee, was assisting police with inquiries on Friday afternoon. He was not formally arrested and no charges have been laid.

Tagpuno Wright was reportedly visiting Tostee after meeting him through an online dating app, believed to be Tinder, the Courier Mail reported.

“I’d attach the spy camera to one side of my jeans pockets and a 3w IR (infra-red) light for night vision to the other pocket, battery in another pocket.”

He also talked about watching people from his 14th-floor balcony, asking for advice on the best equipment.

“I have a parrot AR drone with a built in camera and Wi-Fi remote control so I can control it and record first person from my phone,” Mr Tostee wrote in a post last year.

CAPTURE HD PHOTOS & VIDEOS

Amazing footage streamed and recorded directly to your smartphone using the inbuilt 720p HD camera.

GT is into filming unsuspecting people. A voyeur. I'll bet my bottom dollar there is some visual recording of some of the sex acts (at least) with Warriena and many other of his conquests. That's what they do with *advertiser censored*. Oh I'd love to find the site where he uploaded the videos.

My nephew has a wrist watch synced to his samsung phone. He can control his phone from the wristwatch. Because it is attached to his body it monitors his heartbeat, pulse and even his sleep patterns.
I know it may not relevant but geeks are totally into IT control via voice etc.

hahaha I hear him saying 'Xbox volume down' 5 times! I think it would be easier to just use the bloody switch!

Stilnox does not drive people mad.
Obviously it shouldn't be mixed with alcohol. Neither should anti-depressants. Am not crystal clear on Tostee's toxicology report, but IIRC nothing jumped out.

just going back through old links.

Why did he call Rries phone when he was in the car with his dad? Let alone the calls he made to Rries phone as he left the building...

2.24.13am: Call to deceased

2.49am: Screen shot taken of phone with images of deceased. Call to deceased.

3.29am: Call continues. Male: Hang on a sec. What the (expletive). What the (expletive) is this ... you know how I said there was something in my pocket. Well it is her phone in my pocket.”

Dad: “Is it her phone?”

Male: “It is her phone, yeah ....

3.48.30am: Male: “I wish that I had cameras in my unit. I have audio. I tried calling her phone.” Dad: “Don’t call her phone.”

3.49am: Call is made to phone and goes to message bank. Dad: “What are you doing, why did you do that?” Male: “I don’t know.”

3.50am: Call to deceased.

3.51.30am: Call to deceased.

And the phone is in his bloody pocket.

It does not make any sense.

He says "Cletus Bob" then "I beat anorexia". I wonder if she was anorexic, he knew, and that's why he kept offering her food?

"I beat anorexia" is an internet meme

But how long after the fact did they get a blood sample?
The point was about staying awake on stilnox. Many many many reports of outrageous behaviour.

  • Recreational users take Stilnox and deliberately resist its sleep-inducing effects
  • Doing so can induce a feeling of a 'high' as well as visual effects

I tend to think the "they're not real" comment relates to the decorative rocks on the table, because he said he bought them at a pottery place.

Of course it does, they put their phones down, and he picks up the wrong one. With the recording he does hes obviously used to having a number of gadgets in his pockets at any given time.

Welcome Think-Harder-Please.
Hmm .... I guess that is a possibility.
But it appears he picked up more than one phone.
IMO it was no mistake R'rie phone was in his pocket.

Why do you suppose he tried ringing R'rie phone numerous times after the tragic event ??

Yeah right, they met on Tinder, and she was up there pretty quick. you think she went up to play scrabble.? Get real.

No it definitely did not sound as though scrabble was the intention.

As Tostee said "I thought we were going to have fun."

He also said the 3 best things in the world are food, sex and sleep.

I heard R'rie intending to leave on more than one occasion during the recording.

So I was just pondering that she may not have been as interested in the same things as Tostee.

I meant mad as in crazy, not mad as in angry, in case there's some confusion.

There have been calls to ban Stilnox by many groups in the community - doctors, psychologists, drug & alcohol specialists, social workers, police - precisely due to the impact it can have and the fact that people use it recreationally precisely for that reason. I think that was at its height a few years ago.

<modsnip>

<modsnip>

<modsnip>Tostee does suggest she leave on a number of occasions, but he doesn't follow through, and on an equal number of occasions he encourages her to stay. When Rrie indicates she wants to leave he takes measures to get her to stay. If he was struggling with her behaviour, where's the straightforward, "Look, it's time for you to go, I'll call a taxi" and a follow up of, "If you don't leave I am going to have to call the police"? Pretty simple, in my view. Mind games aside, I don't think it can be said he was desperate for her to leave because she was annoying him.

Giving Tostee maximum benefit of the doubt in this instance - assuming frustration had built up over the night and then Rrie got out of hand hitting him and throwing things in a way that he was at risk of harm and angry at the damage to his apartment (and I think that's a major stretch) - that doesn't give him carte blanche to do whatever he wants to her in return. His response has to be commensurate with the level of threat, it's called "reasonable force". He's not entitled to take out his frustration on her, however great it may be, but simply to diffuse/contain the situation to protect/defend himself. The response isn't about how he feels but about the threat to him.

What's the threat? What's reasonable force of a 6'3" bodybuilder on a petite, slightly built and intoxicated woman? His capacity to lift women and put them over his shoulder is well-documented on the BB forum. He could easily have picked her up and carted her into the hallway. If she did arm herself in some way he could easily have restrained her and disarmed her. (And that's ignoring the fact that the indication is that she only armed herself after he got aggressive and violent with her.) That would have been perfectly legitimate - if he'd carted her into the hallway over his shoulder we wouldn't even be having this discussion. But holding her down and refusing to let her get up? Choking her for more than a minute? Forcibly dragging her onto the balcony? No, that's all unnecessary and therefore unreasonable.

Which in turn raises questions about why Tostee went to those lengths.
