GUILTY NC - Jerome, 73, & Dora Faulkner, 62, murdered, Granville County, 1 Jan 2015

The shooting occurred at 4 p.m. when Greenbrier County’s LPR, or license plate recognition camera, pinged an allegedly stolen plate on a white Chevy Suburban, said Hinkle.

The 911 Center reported the stolen tags to the Lewisburg Police Department, which responded by sending two officers to stop the SUV.

For nearly two hours, a number of law enforcement agencies across southern West Virginia engaged in an intensive manhunt looking for the truck that reportedly had a tarp-covered bed and was being driven by a man of Middle Eastern descent.

..CNN:

Granville County, North Carolina, Sheriff Brindell B. Wilkins Jr. later told CNN affiliate WRAL that the two killed were Jerome Faulkner, 73, and his wife, Dora, 62.

He said the couple were at home Thursday morning when two men came in, set their house ablaze and took off with the pair in their pickup truck.

From the video at your link, it states that they believe the suspects didn't know the victims and the motive was robbery.

It just seems strange to me that they would remove the bodies and transport them in the back of a truck, instead of leaving the bodies in a blazing home. Idk.....

Strange coincidence that a JF Jr. is a Captain of a NC fire department?

Someone got him good! The victims may have put up one heck of a fight.

The sheriff told the station that the two suspects burst into the Faulkners' home near Oak Hill on Thursday morning, set the house on fire and took the couple and their SUV.

Something doesn't add up....well a lot about this doesn't add up.

This poor couple! What is wrong with people today??? Innocent human lives have no value anymore....~smh~

I agree that there are a lot of questions without answers. We have to remember though that we do not know everything the LE knows.
How did 2 guys from Texas get to NC and why? What were they doing there? Why did they commit what appears to be (as of now)a home invasion/arson/double homicide? Why the Faulkners?(I suspect that was random). The fact that their son is possibly the Capt. of a FD coincidence? Why were the victims taken from original crime scene? The first thing that comes to mind is to withdraw money(I'm sure LE has that answer). Why bring them all the way to WV? Where were they headed? Why 2 vehicles? Who does the truck belong to?
The shootout with the Police happened very close to me. I'll update with local news as it becomes available.

Lewisburg police Chief Tim Stover said Lt. Jeromy Dove, a 16-year veteran of the force, was grazed in the back of his neck. Patrolman Nicholas Sams, a rookie just out of training, had shrapnel in his forehead. Stover said both wore protective vests, and he expected both to leave the hospital Friday...

Last September, suspect Edward Campbell was arrested for aggravated assault, according to court records in Brazoria County, south of Houston. Court officials could provide no other details Friday. They said his case file had been sealed. He also had been on probation or deferred adjudication for five years after pleading guilty in 2007 to a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Campbell had been a nurse in several states.
