A reassessment seven years after CNN's founding might have led to choosing a more uptempo, fun number from another Georgia enterprise, in 1987:

Okay, TV Mogul Person out there -- let's say you owned a network, had indisputable confirmation the world was soon ending, and thus got to soundtrack the proceedings as, in effect, Life's Final Credits rolled across the sky.
What would you pick for that last song? anyone? Something happy, sad, bittersweet? religious? irreligious? angry or resigned, silly, simpering, cynical -- or something in between?
Maybe I'd go with genus: ironical; species: bittersweet, and thus with Ms. Skeeter Davis. Maybe.
