Four men were shot and killed Friday night in a brazen quadruple homicide in the Hayes Valley neighborhood, police said.

The shooting was reported around 10 p.m. in the 200 block of Page Street, between Octavia Boulevard and Laguna Street, according to San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza. When officers arrived, they found four men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. All four victims were pronounced dead at the scene, Esparza said.

Drugs? Gangs?

Police were not releasing the identity of the victims, but said they're worried about more gang retaliation after last night.

There is a photo of a poster the police are posting around the neighborhood; it notes the 4 victims are African-Americans.

After domestic violence this is probably one of the most common types of murder in the country--so not particularly interesting.

The San Francisco medical examiner on Monday identified the four victims of Friday night’s quadruple homicide in Hayes Valley.

Authorities said Yalani Chinyamurindi, 19, of San Francisco; Harith Atchan, 21, of San Francisco; Manuel O’Neal, 22, of San Francisco; and David Saucier, 20, of Antioch, were sitting in a stolen car when all four were shot and killed.

Police said the slayings were likely gang-related. No suspects have been identified or arrested.

It doesn't appear to be a bad area of the city...or a random crime, in my opinion.

It's not a bad area - but the City is interwoven with beautiful neighborhoods next to streets I wouldn't walk alone on. :cow:

http://www.sfgate.com/crime/article/Western-Addition-struggles-to-save-youths-after-4-6041664.php

In the hours after a pair of gunmen opened fire on a double-parked car in San Francisco’s Western Addition, killing the four young men inside, phone lines erupted across the neighborhood. Longtime residents called each other to ask if they knew where their sons were, where their nephews were, where their brothers were — making sure they weren’t in the shot-up black Honda at Laguna and Page streets...

It’s been a relatively peaceful past few years in the Western Addition. But the unsolved Jan. 9 shooting on the edge of upscale Hayes Valley ignited an ever-present anxiety that the neighborhood’s young people, many of them poor and black, will be swallowed by the violence that has plagued the community...

Police told The Chronicle that the killings of Yalani Chinyamurindi, 19, David Saucier, 20, Harith Atchan, 21, and Manuel O’Neal, 22, appeared to be gang-motivated and probably linked to a group with turf near the scene. Two guns were discovered inside the Honda, which had been stolen from outside a Burlingame home in December, though it’s unclear why the men were armed.

The sole defendant facing murder charges for a January 2015 quadruple homicide had been “languishing in jail” as his case dragged on until recently because the prosecution had yet to hand over evidence necessary for his defense, said his lawyer who had been pleading for a quick transfer of evidence...

Lee Farley Jr., 27, who has pleaded not guilty to four counts of murder, was arrested months ago and already lost one defense lawyer to illness...

Farley, previously a suspect in a 2009 shooting in the mid-Market area, was arrested in late July on suspicion of four counts of murder with gang enhancements in connection with the Hayes Valley killings.
