Jonathan Camacho, 23, of Port Lavaca, is under arrest and charged with murder in the deaths of his wife and three young children, who all died Monday in a fire...

Found dead after the fire were Camacho's wife, Dulce Cumpean-Camacho, 23, and their three children, 4-year-old son, Zavier, 1-year-old daughter, Ciaro, and 3-month-old daughter, Faith. They were found dead after a fire was reported at 4:42 a.m. Monday in a tin building behind Diamond Amusement Game Room on Cumpean Lane of U.S. 87 about half a mile north of Port Lavaca...

The couple was in process of filing for divorce, Cintia said. "We're all still in a lot of shock right now," Cintia said Monday. "I think we got this, and we have enough evidence to show it was murder."

Calhoun County Sheriff's deputies were called twice Sunday night to the residence of Jonathan Camacho and Dulce Cumpean-Camacho for child custody issues. The horror that followed after deputies left resulted in the arrest of Jonathan Camacho, 23, of Port Lavaca, for the deaths of his wife and three young children.

When firefighters arrived at 4:42 a.m. Monday, the less than 400-square-foot tin structure where the couple lived was ablaze...

The Travis County Medical Examiner's Office conducted autopsies. Preliminary results indicate all four victims died of stab wounds, according to a news release Thursday from the Calhoun County Sheriff, George Aleman.

The Travis County Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy. Preliminary results indicate all four died of stab wounds, the statement said.

Jonathan Camacho is receiving medical attention while in the custody of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the Victoria Police Department and the Victoria Sheriff's Office, the statement said. Upon his release, he will be jailed at the Calhoun County Adult Detention Center. He faces charges of murder of his wife and capital murder of each of his three children. His bond has been set at $4 million.

Cumpean-Camacho's sister, Cintia Cumpean, 17, said the family immediately suspected Camacho.

On the morning of the fatal fire, she said, "It was him, I never liked him, the kind of person he was. He's in the hospital now. He killed his own children and wife."

Shortly before she and her children were killed, Dulce Cumpean-Camacho told a friend on the phone that her husband was pacing with a knife. She hung up at 1:30 a.m., planning to call law enforcement for a third time that night.

The description of that phone call, a knife found outside their home and a Facebook post are just a few reasons why investigators arrested her husband, Jonathan Camacho, on suspicion of murder and capital murder, according to an arrest warrant affidavit recently unsealed by Judge Jack Marr.

The document also details the circumstances of her first two phone calls to law enforcement and lays a timeline for the events of Jan. 11 to 12, which Camacho said he does not remember completely.

I cant even read this one , why did LE not help her, when she called ? has that been stated ? as a woman you feel like there IS no protection when you are married to someone like that , divorce does not work, it seems she is always killed as soon as she makes that decision to break free, I don't know why dispatchers aren't trained to ask that question? "Are you going thru a divorce? do you feel as if he will snap" there should blah blah blah this is so avoidable....im upset :(

Jonathan Camacho pleaded guilty Thursday to capital murder in order to avoid the death penalty.

District Judge Jack Marr sentenced Camacho to life in prison without the possibility of parole...

Heard said the victims' family preferred Camacho receive life in prison. "They said, 'We think he would be punished more with life without parole than he would with the death penalty because he has to live with this.' They felt the death penalty would be too easy for him, basically," Heard said.
