Saginaw Valley State student missing in New York since New Year's Day
Police are searching for a Saginaw Valley State University student who was last seen on New Year's Day. Khandaker Farhan Labib, 19, a native of Bangladesh, was attending school in the United States on a student visa. He was visiting family in New York City from Dec. 15 until he went missing on Jan. 1. Saginaw Valley State University Spokeman J.J. Boehm said officials at the school were alerted to his disappearance last week. "A few SVSU students from Bangladesh brought to the attention of our International Programs office that Farhan had not returned to campus as they had expected," Boehm said.

Saginaw Valley State University Campus Police said Labib and his uncle left his uncle's home in New York City at about 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 1 and took the F-train together. His uncle exited at Kew Garden Station. Labib told his uncle that he would get off at Jackson Height Station and take a bus to LaGuardia Airport to catch his flight to Michigan. He has been missing since then, police said. Police said Labib's phone is dead, there is no activity on his Facebook page, he is not contacting his parents or friends and, according to his uncle, his American Airline return ticket is still open.

Boehm, though, said that after speaking with family members, officials at the university learned that Labib's flight to Saginaw was not scheduled until Feb. 3."We are aware of the social media activity surrounding Khandaker Farhan Labib," Boehm said. "The family has filed missing person reports with SVSU police and with New York City Police; those two agencies have been exchanging information."

Labib is a graphic design major and was enrolled during the 2014 fall semester but has not registered for the winter term, Boehm said.

Family friend Habib Rahman said that Labib's father contacted him from Bangladesh and asked him to look into his son's disappearance after family members lost contact.

Rahman said he doesn't know Labib personally, but said his father is a friend from college.

"We are trying to find out who his friends are in New York," Rahman said.

Rahman said he believes Labib had two or three friends who he spent time with in New York.

A Facebook page has been set up urging people to help find Labib.

I hope he is touring the U.S., seeing it all through the lens of his camera.

If you read his facebook posts he was really loving NYC, and talking about not wanting to leave, and spending the rest of his life there.. hopefully he just decided to stay and is too afraid to tell his parents that he didn't go back to school.

From February 2016:
http://buffaloreflex.com/news/forme...cle_6ce72c66-cf7b-11e5-8a1c-4732c53ab256.html
Khandaker Farhan Labib, 20, a former foreign exchange student from Bangladesh who graduated from Buffalo High School in 2013, was first reported missing Jan. 1, 2015. More than a year later, there are still no clues as to his whereabouts, nor is it known whether he is still alive.

According to Jim and Julie Osborn, with whom he stayed while he was in Buffalo during his senior year, law enforcement authorities in New York City and the University of Michigan-Saginaw view “Farhan,” as he was known, basically as an adult, so if he doesn’t want to be found, that’s his business.

I found this FB:
Username: farhan.labib.5623
