Five-year-old Alex Nash's dad forgot his little boy had a visit to grandparents scheduled, when he agreed he could attend a classmate's birthday party in Plymouth, UK. Alex didn't go to the party, which was held at an artificial snowboard and ski center. Dad Derek Nash said he didn't have a number to let the mother holding the party know.

A few days later, Derek found a letter in his son's schoolbag - with a £16 (about $24) official invoice from the mother of the birthday child, for little Alex's 'no-show fee' for the party.

Derek says school protocols were broken as the teacher should never have passed on the mother's bill to his son, and when he went to her house to see the mother, she threatened him with court action if he didn't pay the cost of the wasted ticket for the ski center. The mother told the BBC all her contact details were on the party invitation, but isn't commenting to media anymore.

Alex says his classmate won't play with him now, which is sad.
