Kelly’s father reported her missing at 2:32 a.m. Friday when she had not returned home after four hours, according to the sheriff’s office. Investigators returned that afternoon and, while walking through the property, found Kelly’s body at about 2 p.m. She had suffered cuts to the upper torso and blunt force trauma injuries, and her death is being investigated as a homicide, according to a news release.

Kelly and her father were the sole occupants of the residence, sheriff’s spokesman Juan Rios said Monday. “Investigators are out right now chasing down information and leads” and there are currently no suspects, he said.

Kelly’s mother lives in Albuquerque and her parents were divorced, according to Rios.

Bill Kelly, is being called a “person of interest” in the killing of his daughter Julieanne Kelly, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s said.

“As far as I know, yes,” sheriff’s spokesman Juan Rios said, when asked if Kelly, 64, was being cooperative in the investigation...

A search warrant was executed at the home on Callejon de Rita and a dog with blood on it it was taken into custody. The blood is being tested to determine the source, said Rios. He would not say what else the search uncovered.

Wow. I wonder why the father is being called a POI?

Kelley had stab wounds on her upper torso and an injury to her face “with numerous crushed facial bones.” Overall, Kelley had at least 30 stab wounds and blunt-force injuries, including defensive wounds on her arms, the report says...

The autopsy report says the daughter had argued with her father the night of Jan. 15, “and then she ran off.” A toxicology report found no drugs in Julieanne Kelley’s system. She had an alcohol level of 0.025, the toxicology report says.

In January, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said 30-year-old Julieanne Kelley was found stabbed to death on her father’s property on Callejon de Rita, an unpaved road between Agua Fría and Rufina streets. The sheriff’s office hasn’t identified any suspects in the case, which remains under investigation.

Prosecutor withdraws request to test canes in murder case - March 8th

Just before a hearing Wednesday on a prosecutor’s request to have a forensic expert dismantle three canes that double as weapons and test their interior parts for DNA evidence in a 2-year-old murder case, Assistant District Attorney Todd Bullion withdrew the motion.

Bullion filed a motion in January asking a judge to allow forensic testing of two sword canes and a laser cane that belong to 66-year-old William Kelley, who is accused of killing his daughter, Julieanne Kelley, 30, whose body was found riddled with stab wounds outside the home they shared in Agua Fría village in January 2015.

The canes are in the custody of prosecutors, but the attorneys were seeking a judge’s permission to dismantle them. It is unclear why Bullion retracted the request.

DA’s Office wants to use evidence of old injuries in murder case

Assistant District Attorney Todd Bullion said in a motion filed this week in state District Court that wounds found on Julieanne Kelley’s body strengthen the state’s case and should be introduced when William Kelley goes on trial. According to Bullion’s motion, a doctor from the state Office of the Medical Investigator is prepared to testify that three wounds on Julianne Kelley’s stomach could have been caused by a “taser cane” police recovered from the Kelley home. Those wounds appeared to have been healing at the time of her death, the motion stated.

Kelley’s trial is scheduled to begin in October.

Murder trial pushed back 90 days for ailing suspect

A Santa Fe man who claims he was too physically frail to have stabbed his daughter to death at their southwest-side home in 2015 was able to delay his murder trial for another 90 days after telling a judge Tuesday that he has a newly discovered heart condition.

A cardiologist who examined William Kelley, 67, on Nov. 14 recommended postponing Kelly’s trial — previously set to begin Dec. 4 — so the doctor can “properly diagnose” Kelley’s medical condition, according to a motion filed by his attorney.

Murder charges dropped against Agua Fría man in daughter’s 2015 death

The District Attorney’s Office and the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office issued a joint statement Friday saying they had decided to halt a murder trial for 67-year-old William Kelley, who is accused in the slaying of his adult daughter three years ago outside the home they shared in Agua Fría village.

The brief statement, which came just two months before Kelley was set to stand trial, said the charges of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence had been dismissed without prejudice — meaning they could be refiled — and that the investigation remains open. But it did not explain the reason for the decision.
