Investigators offer reward in missing person case
HARVEST, AL (WAFF) - The Madison County Sheriff's Office held a press conference on Thursday to cover further information and rewards being offered in the missing person case of Jennifer Powers from 2008. Investigators said they do not believe she would have left her family. The Sheriff's Department has issued a reward for any new information in the case. They wanted to address the public and ask for help in the continued investigation. Powers was last seen at her home in Harvest, Alabama on July 12, 2008. Her husband stated they both went to bed that night and when he woke up in the morning, she was gone. He didn't report her disappearance for two weeks. Powers left her wallet, driver's license and medication behind. She was enrolled in an outpatient drug rehabilitation program at the time of her disappearance. Powers left behind three children, one of whom died of cancer in 2012. Powers's family stated that in spite of her drug problem, she would not have abandoned her family, and they believe she's deceased.

They also believe someone in the area knows what happened to her.

[h=1]Police find items in search for long-missing Alabama woman[/h]
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Investigators looking for clues in the disappearance of an Alabama woman last seen in 2008 are analyzing potential evidence found during a search of the home where she was last seen.

Authorities wouldn't say what they located Wednesday while looking for remains of Jennifer Fay Powers in a rural area near Huntsville, Alabama.

But Sheriff's Capt. Michael Salomonsky told WHNT-TV that items would be tested for signs of blood, hair and fibers.

Search continues in Jennifer Powers case

Almost a decade has passed since Jennifer Faye Powers left her home and family behind and never returned.

In that time, her home and surrounding area have been searched repeatedly, a reward of $5,000 and then $10,000 have been offered for information on her whereabouts, and the Madison County probate judge has declared her legally dead.

Meanwhile, the Madison County Sheriff's Office continues to search for the woman who has been missing from Granto Road in Harvest since July 2008.

"The case is not cold; we've been working it since 2008 when it happened," said Madison County Sheriff's Investigator Ken Andrews, who has been a part of the case since 2013.

Because the Granto Road house where Powers disappeared is so close to the county line and because some of the "key players" are in Limestone County, the Limestone County Sheriff's Office is assisting in the investigation, Andrews said.

"I got (Investigator Rodney McAbee) on the case because it's good to have a contact over there in case I need something in Limestone County," he said.

Andrews said the case was also sent to Quantico, Virginia, to be reviewed by behavioral analysts with the FBI, though that isn't all the help the agency has offered.

July 12 marks 10 years since Jennifer Powers vanished from her Harvest home

Thursday, friends and community members will remember Jennifer Powers and support her family at a candlelight vigil. July 12, the date of the vigil, marks 10 years since her disappearance.

Powers was last seen at her house on Granto Road on July 12, 2008. She has since been declared legally deceased by the Probate Judge of Madison County. Deputies believe she was the victim of a homicide. She left home, officials say, without necessary items like her purse or her medication.

Since that day, her family has been wishing for answers and investigators have been working to find her.

Huntsville church to hold vigil for Jennifer Powers

Family, friends and community members will join together in honor of a Harvest woman who's been missing for over a decade.

A candlelight vigil will be held Thursday night for Jennifer Powers.

Back in March, the Madison County Sheriff's Office announced a new $10,000 reward for anyone with information on her disappearance.

The vigil will be at Liberty Baptist Church in Huntsville at 7 p.m.

Investigators say digging operations in Madison County led them to find more evidence in a case they’ve worked tirelessly for nearly 11 years.

Crews were out on Granto Road all day Thursday as they continue to gather information in the missing persons case.

Powers was last seen in Harvest on July 12th, 2008.

The mother of three went missing from her home. After she disappeared, her husband said he woke up to find she was gone without a note and had left without her belongings.

Some fear she may have been the victim of a homicide.

When the dig wrapped up on Thursday afternoon, the Madison County Sheriff's Office reported that it was "productive" and that evidence was collected and removed for forensic analysis.

“We’ve returned to this area in search of any evidence that we might be able to find in reference to the Jennifer Powers case from 2008. This is the second time for this type of operation that we’ve done in the past year. New leads became available and this is an active case that we’re continuing to work,” said Lt. Donny Shaw, public information officer for the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. ...

Jennifer Powers
HARVEST – It will be 12 years on Sunday since Madison County Sheriff investigators say Jennifer Fay Powers was the victim of homicide at 148 Granto Road in Harvest. The sheriff’s department is again asking for the public’s help in solving the case.
“The investigation has continued over the past 12 years with various leads and information being obtained,” stated a social media post from the MCSO Friday morning. “Despite the last 12 years, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office has not forgotten about Jennifer Powers. There is a person of interest in this case that has become uncooperative; however, our pursuit of justice continues to this day.”
Madison County investigators say they have utilized cadaver canines that indicated on the property where Jennifer Powers died. A search on the property and the adjoining property were unsuccessful in recovering the body of Powers.
“The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is asking for any information that will lead us to the whereabouts of Jennifer Powers’ body and further information that will assist in securing a conviction for the suspect(s) involved, so justice can be served and bring the much-needed closure for the family and friends of Jennifer Powers,” the sheriff’s office stated.
Anyone with any information about the death and/or whereabouts of Jennifer Powers is urged to contact Investigator Ken Andrews at (256) 533-8866 or by email krandrews@madisoncountyal.gov.
It does not say but I'm betting the uncooperative person of interest is most likely the husband.

Jennifer Fay Powers was last spotted 15 years ago at Granto Road in Harvest, on July 12, 2008. Since then Madison County deputies have been urging the public for any leads on Powers’ disappearance. Powers’ husband, Jason, said he noticed she was gone without a note in their Harvest home. She disappeared without her purse, driver’s license, and medication.

MCSO says they believe Powers was a probable homicide victim due to her sudden disappearance in 2008.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office remains diligent in searching for an answer on Jennifer Powers’ body as they continue to investigate.

Anyone with any information about the death and/or whereabouts of Jennifer Powers is urged to contact Detective Chad Harbin at (256)533-8820 or charbin@madisoncountyal.gov.

This one is right. Up the road from me. Kids spent the night with grandparents and wife disappears.....

Husband said she must have left while he was sleeping. She took nothing with her. Her purse, medication, clothing even her cigarettes were left behind.

I feel so bad for her parents and children.
