Authorities plan to exhume a mans body that had its head and hands removed when it was found nearly 30 years ago along a rural highway in Warren County...
A squirrel hunter stumbled across the remains on the Tuesday after Memorial Day in 1987 in a sparsely-populated area about nine miles north of Warrenton. Officials estimated the man had been there four to five days.

The man, who had very fair skin, had been decapitated, and his hands were chopped off just above the wrist. Police believe it was an attempt to hide his identity by eliminating fingerprints...
Police believe the man was between 35 and 45. He stood 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 inches tall and weighed 230 to 245 pounds. He had an irregular scar on his right side, approximately two inches long, that appeared to be an old gunshot wound that had not been treated professionally. He also had seven broken ribs...
An autopsy revealed the man had an enlarged heart and was suffering from hypertension and coronary artery disease. His toxicology report came back positive for alcohol and cocaine. His stomach contained the remnants of a recent meal a hamburger, french fries and peaches.
Among the man's clothing and personal effects were a dark blue 1987 Rose Bowl t-shirt (size XL), white Nike hightops (size 9), and Oscar de la Renta jeans (hemmed two inches), along with 82 cents and a 1983 gold-colored token from the Kansas City International Airport.
There are more photos at the St Louis Dispatch link, along with various theories about who this fellow could possibly be.
