There are more questions than answers after a man's body was found along a rural road Tuesday in Susquehanna County... At this point, troopers have not publicly identified the man who was found or said that they even know who it is. An autopsy took place on Wednesday but both the coroner and the district attorney referred all questions to state police. While blood was found at the scene, investigators have not even confirmed whether or not this is a homicide investigation.

With the help of a drone, investigators from the Susquehanna County District Attorney's Office photographed part of Harmony Road in Great Bend Township. That is where the body was found, around noon-time Tuesday, about four miles from Route 11.

On Friday, Dec. 18, Mast, 25, of Hallstead, admitted to the role he played in the matter, by pleading guilty to third degree murder, and a count of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Mast is expected to provide testimony against co-conspirator and girlfriend Sarah Briggs at her trial scheduled for February 2016.

Mast faces a maximum of 60 years in prison on the two counts. A sentencing date will be determined following the Briggs’ trial.

Briggs murder trial begins in Susquehanna County

The trial for one of two people accused of the murder of Roy Marvin in Great Bend Twp. 20 months ago began Monday in Susquehanna County Court.

Sarah Briggs, 28, is charged with murder, robbery and conspiracy.

According to testimony Monday morning, Mr. Marvin was stabbed 29 times and bled to death on Feb. 10, 2015, on a remote stretch of Turkey Hill Road, near state gamelands. His body was dragged across the road and dumped about 100 feet down an embankment along the Susquehanna River.

Ms. Briggs’ boyfriend and co-defendant, Jerry Mast, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and a count of conspiracy to commit robbery in December. Mr. Mast, who has not yet been sentenced, is expected to testify against Ms. Briggs.

Jurors deliberated about four hours Wednesday before finding Sarah Briggs guilty of first-degree murder in the Feb. 10, 2015, stabbing death of Roy Marvin.

The jury also convicted Ms. Briggs on a count of robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit murder and criminal conspiracy robbery.

Ms. Briggs’ sentencing date has not been set. The first-degree murder conviction carries an automatic life sentence.

Briggs Sentenced to Life Term for Role in Murder

A woman will spend the rest of her life in prison for her role in a murder in Susquehanna County.

Sarah Briggs was sentenced Monday morning at the courthouse in Montrose.

Now, without even so much as an apology for taking Roy Marvin's life, Briggs is set to serve out a life sentence at a state prison in Lycoming County.

"She doesn’t care, she never cared about her own family, she doesn’t have any morals or values or anything. She’ll never realize what she did," said Marvin's sister Stephanie Button.

Mast pleaded guilty last December and testified against Briggs. He's scheduled to be sentenced later this month.

Man gets prison time for fatal stabbing

http://thetimes-tribune.com/news/man-gets-prison-time-for-fatal-stabbing-1.2130087

Just one week after Sarah Briggs received a life sentence in the 2015 murder of Roy Marvin in Susquehanna County, co-defendant Jerry Mast was sentenced to serve 18 to 40 years in prison for his role in the crime.

You already got your break,” said the victim’s sister, Stephanie Button. “My brother deserved a life. You killed a man to get high and drink milkshakes.”

Mr. Marvin’s grandmother, Sandy Button, said that she understood how crucial Mr. Mast’s testimony was for Ms. Briggs’ conviction. However, she described the murder as being “cold, calculated and brutal.”

“It’s as if you stabbed me those 29 times,” she said. “We felt each of his 29 wounds.”
