Longwood police are searching for the remains of a missing woman who hasn't been seen or heard from in more than 10 years.

They are leading a dig off of Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Dog Track Road near Lyman High School.

For fear of jeopardizing the investigation, police refuse to release her identity. However, they said she was 29 years old when she was reported missing in 2004 and had family in Seminole County at the time of her disappearance.

Investigators brought in a backhoe Thursday to dig deeper for possible human remains.

Cadaver dogs identified an area off Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Dog Track Road, near Lyman High School, as a hot spot. The area is the former site of a neighborhood filled with deteriorating homes that were torn down last year. "They hit on a couple of hot spots," said Longwood police Officer Kevin Tuck, referring to the cadaver dogs. "We're looking at those hot spots, seeing if we can locate any remains."

Police said they believe this could be a criminal case, but would not confirm if there were any suspects identified.

According to NamUs, she lived with her husband and kids. I wonder where the husband is today.

Police: Woman's remains not found in Longwood, search concludes.
The search in a Longwood field for the remains of a woman missing since 2004 halted Friday after officers came up empty-handed, police spokesman Kevin Tuck said. After three days of digging and sifting through soil, officers and crime-scene specialists concluded their search for the 29-year-old woman in a field near S. Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Dog Track Road, Tuck said.

Although the search is over for now, Tuck said they aren't abandoning the case.
