James Homer Aldridge (1977)
On 02-25-1977, James Homer Aldridge (49-years-old) was discovered deceased in his vehicle off of Highway 170 in Bluffton. Initially it was believed he died of injuries sustained in a single car accident since his pick-up truck crashed into a tree off of the roadway but further examination revealed he had been shot prior to striking the tree.
During the ensuing investigation, it was learned Aldridge traveled frequently to Jacksonville, Florida from Beaufort for work and may have picked up hitchhikers in his travels. It was established the fatal gunshot wounds originated from the passenger side of the pick-up truck.
No suspects have been identified.
