Cat missing for eight years has come back home to die says stunned owner

A woman who got home from a hospital operation was greeted by her pet cat which had gone missing eight years before - and had come home to die.

Stunned Karen Raymond, 45, had undergone knee surgery but when she arrived at her house she found long-haired tabby called Scruffy sat on her doorstep.

Scruffy had vanished in 2007 and she feared she would never see her beloved moggy again but he was waiting for her at home the day she was discharged from hospital.

Karen was thrilled by the return of the cat which was matted and bedraggled and almost unrecognisable from the cat she had once been.

Scruffy has since been diagnosed with a mouth tumour and Karen, of Bovey Tracey, Devon, thinks he came home to die.

Karen said: “My cat went missing eight years ago, but he just turned up on my doorstep out of the blue when I had come back from hospital after a knee operation.
