Marvin Markle Jr. is also a person of interest in an unsolved homicide that occurred in Vacaville over 30 years ago, when he was just 17 years old. On November 15, 1982, 14 year old, Deanna Lynn Johnson went missing from a high school party in her own neighborhood. Her parents contacted police that evening, when Deanna Lynn failed to return home with her older brother. The next morning, two railroad employees made a horrifying discovery, it was Deanna Lynn Johnson. Her cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head.

Borchers said she believes some of the people who attended the party in 1982 may have been threatened and were afraid to tell what they knew. She hopes once they learn that Markle is locked up for life, they will tell their stories.

If, and when, Markle is tried and convicted of killing Johnson, Borchers said she’ll go back to “living a normal life.”

“I’m waiting for the day I can walk through my town again and not be ‘the lady in the purple shirt,’ ” she said.

Convicted killer and man accused of murdering Vacaville teen in 1982 appears in court

Marvin Ray Markle Jr., 51, who sported a smirk as he entered the courtroom in chains to greet his council Thursday, plead not guilty in February to one count of murder in connection with the 1982 death of De Anna Lynn Johnson, 14. Markle was 17 at the time of the crime, hence why he remains in juvenile court.

With the Prosecuting Attorney seeking to move the case to adult court, Markle’s public defendant replied that he was not in a position to ask for a transfer hearing, citing a “massive case” of documents that still need to be examined by him. The prosecution attorney countered, saying, “It’s not brain surgery as to whether we should go forward or not.” The man proceeded to say that a decision not to set a jurisdictional hearing would be a “waste of time.”

Presiding Judge D. Scott Daniels questioned Markle’s public defendant, asking if Juvenile Court could provide his client with proper services. In conclusion, to give Markle’s public defendant more time to “get up to speed,” Judge D. Scott Daniels set a further readiness conference for April 27 at 9:30 a.m where a possible transfer to adult court will be discussed once again.

From the above aerticle:

"Detectives again zeroed in on Markle after he was arrested in 2013 for Pratt's slaying.

Vacaville Police Detective Matt Lydon tells the FOX 40 TV station that investigators have been piecing the case together for three decades. "Some pieces in the '80s, some pieces in the '90s and to the 2000s . it's not one piece of evidence, it's all pieces to the puzzle," Lydon said.

Mary Borchers, a friend of De Anna, believed Markle was responsible all along and once confronted him at his home. "I remember he said to me 'You'll never get me Mary,' as he was spitting on me, and I said 'Count my words, honey, I will get you,' " Borchers said."

"Detectives learned in 2004 that Markle was the primary*suspect in the Butte County*killing. Lydon attended the 2013 trial involving the Butte County homicide and heard witness testimony that helped significantly, the lieutenant said.

Markle was sentenced Jan. 16, 2015, in a Butte County courtroom to a prison term of 80 years to life for the 2001 killing of Shirley Pratt, 41, whose naked body*was*found at a wildlife area near the Feather River."
