Missing woman search leads police to Trail Ridge Landfill
In an attempt to find a Jacksonville woman missing since March 18, crews were at the Trail Ridge Landfill near Maxville Tuesday, to hopefully bring an end to their search News4Jax sources said.

The family of 22-year-old Brittany Foote said that she went missing after moving to Jacksonville last summer while living with her boyfriend, 29-year-old Courtney Lamar Davis.

In response to the family’s fears of foul play, police recently searched a dumpster on Dunn Avenue but were unable to find anything. “The police then got in touch with my family. Supposedly Courtney had a cousin with him. His cousin claimed Brittany and Courtney were arguing and he heard two gunshots in the bedroom,” Foote’s cousin Champange Rhodes, said.

Family sheds light on search for missing woman
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A woman not seen or heard from for two weeks has the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office actively searching the city's largest landfill for evidence of her disappearance.

Family members say Brittany Foote, 22, has not been heard from since March 17, the day following her birthday.

Brittany's cousin, whom First Coast News is not identifying, said JSO investigators suspect Foote may have been murdered.

The cousin says Brittany's family is being told two shots were fired in a home that Brittany shared with her boyfriend. According to family, her boyfriend's cousin was present at the time of the alleged shooting and helped remove the body.

Her boyfriend allegedly confessed to killing Foote and disposing of her body in a dumpster in a conversation with a family member, Foote's cousin told First Coast News. Her cousin says the same relative went to police with that information, sparking the investigation into Foote's disappearance.

Her cousin alleges Foote's relationship had turned violent in the past, with Foote reportedly showing up at a friend's house badly beaten and afraid for her life. The man family is identifying as Foote's boyfriend is currently being held in the Duval County Jail on a weapons charge. Court records show he was arrested March 26.

Missing woman landfill search continues
Apr 03 2015 06:15:01 PM EDT

Trash haulers have been dumping garbage in different parts of the landfill and the police are continuing their search in a particular section where they think trash related to this case may be linked was dumped.

This is just one aspect of the investigation, though, and police are also still talking to Foote’s boyfriend, 29-year-old Courtney Davis, who is locked up on firearm charges.

Foote was living with Davis when she was last seen, but has not been charged in her disappearance.

Missing woman's boyfriend charged with murder
A 29-year-old man whose girlfriend disappeared about more than a month ago has been charged with her murder, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.

Courtney Lamar Davis was arrested March 26 and charged with possession of a firearm by an out-of-state felon. He pleaded not guilty earlier this month and has been in jail since his arrested.

Davis is the boyfriend of Brittany Foote, 22, who was last seen March 18. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spent a week earlier this month searching the Trail Ridge Landfill in Maxville for evidence in her disappearance. Police said they never found her body, but believe she was murdered some time between March 18 and March 19.

Davis confessed to Foote's murder while visiting his father in Maryland March 24. Two days later, he was arrested by JSO. Investigators suspect Davis, who's already in custody on a charge of possession of firearm by a convicted felon, killed Foote out of jealousy,

He had purchased items to dispose of her body" and later left her remains in a dumpster off Dunn Avenue, said Butler. Investigators found traces of Foote's DNA at a burn site they found in the 100 block of Imeson Park Boulevard. Employees of a local towing company took police there after they say Davis previously asked them to winch a U-Haul rental van free from the site on March 19.

Wow! What a horrible story. I'm glad they got him off the streets so he can't harm anyone else. I feel bad that they probably won't find Brittany, and that she ended up lost in a garbage heap. :(

I can't imagine what Brittany's family must be going through. What a monster.
