Spotsylvania parents locked kids in room, fed them through gate.

Horrible conditions and neglect. It's crazy that these two got no jail time because there was no "physical" abuse.

Have the goal posts of child abuse been moved so far back that keeping your babies locked away in solitary confinement until they lack social skills and fear a closed door is now only worth a slap on the wrist?

It would have been appropriate justice for the two of them to have been given the same sentence they gave those three innocent children: locked up and fed through a hole in the bars. JMO, of course.
