Homicide detectives continue extensive searches for missing Queensland mother of two, Julie Hutchinson. Julie was reported missing April 9 by her sister, who hadn't seen her since March 7. She was last seen at a residence at Chelsea Drive in Townsville.

Julie's 47 year old husband has been arrested on suspicion of her murder and the family home in Condon has been declared a crime scene. Police believe she is deceased. Detective David Nixon is urging anyone with information to come forward:

"We are appealing to the public for anyone who would have any information, who may have seen Julie in the past month, or a silver 2004 Mazda 6 sedan, which belongs to Julie, and may have been in the Herveys Range area."

A search is underway on a vacant block of land in Townsville for property belonging to a missing mother of two, who is suspected of being murdered.. Detective Inspector David Nixon said he was not in a position to describe what item police were searching for at the Mount Louisa block.

"It's not a very big area and not heavily overgrown. We anticipate it won't be a lengthy search," he said.

"There will be 10 police conducting this search.

"[The item] may or may not progress what we're trying to do ...*

What are your thoughts Zwiebel? I can't help but feel it's odd all around considering he never reported her missing and it's only now started to be investigated :(

Officers are focusing on an area in the park that borders Dalrymple Rd at Mount Louisa.

They are sweeping the ground with metal detectors and combing through long grass.

Townsville Crime Group Detective Inspector David Nixon said the park was the only area police are actively searching.

“Police are going to be conducting a search in this area for an item of property which we believe to be relevant to our enquiries,” he said.

“We believe there is an item that is relevant to what we are doing and we have some information that it may be in this area.”

Police seem to have very concrete evidence Julie is no longer with us and the person they seem to think can help most with info is her husband....

I wonder why it took nearly a month for Julie's sister to discover she was missing though? And I'm not quite sure if Julie and her husband were living together when she disappeared? Seems to be two residences involved?

The couple’s home in Chelsea Drive, Condon, was cordoned off by police on Saturday night, before Mrs Hutchinson’s silver Mazda6 was towed away to undergo further forensic testing.

“There hasn’t (been a body located) ... we are appealing to the public for any information from someone who may have seen Julie last month or a silver 2004 Mazda6 sedan (registration 622 HZE), which belongs to Julie and may have been in the Herveys Range area.

“As part of the investigation we’ve come by some *information that suggests that vehicle may have been at Herveys Range.”

So sad to have perhaps been deceased (murdered!) for so long and it take so long to be noticed and investigated. I can understand it happening, I can go for a few weeks without speaking to my Mum and sister sometimes. I hope her sister and the rest of Julie's family and friends get answers and closure asap.
