Man accused of extracting girlfriends' teeth with pliers during lovemaking

A court in Wellington, New Zealand, is hearing how Philip Lyle Hansen 'surprised' four girlfriends during 'romantic moments' by whipping out a pair of pliers and pulling out their teeth.

Philip Lyle Hansen, 56, has pleaded not guilty to 11 charges, including unlawful sexual connection and charges of wounding with intent to injure four women.

It's alleged Hansen extracted the women's teeth with pliers and attempted to remove the teeth of one woman with a screwdriver....

On Thursday a fourth complainant began giving evidence at his Wellington District Court trial.

"We were having sex and he started talking about my tooth again - I told him not to touch it," she told the court.

"I don't know why or how but he had these pliers and just had them on my tooth and was shaking the tooth backwards and forwards."

The woman said she heard her tooth cracking.

"The tooth came out and he just threw it out the window."

When she told Hansen he shouldn't have done that, he tried to reassure her.

"He kept saying 'I know what I'm doing', that he'd done me a favour by saving me money from going to the dentist."

Per article - He likes gummy women. Perhaps a bag of gummy bears would be better? His demeanor in the picture is pretty telling..he still doesn't care what he did to them. This is just right down spooky and creepy.

Still making me cringe but I had to update with closing arguments. Defense said no-one has to like his client but he shouldn't be punished for pulling teeth with consent; some allegations were 20 years old and one woman said she couldn't believe she let him do it. The victims had all met up before going to police within a week of each other, as well.

Prosecution said it was ludicrous to suggest the women gave consent to have their teeth ripped out and his ex-wife had described a similar pattern of behaviour. There were numerous searches of 'fat gummy women' and 'tooth pulling' found on Hansen's computer, as well.

A female friend of his said she carried out some of the searches after he was tried, but not for 'gummy ladies'. She was asked by prosecution about her own missing teeth.

It is easy to find gummy women among certain drug addicts, the very poor, and the elderly. I suspect he was a little attracted to torture. Also, I wonder if the television show Scandal airs in New Zealand?

Guilty on nearly all the charges. He'll be sentenced in June.

(The jury) found Hansen guilty of six of the 10 charges he had been facing, including two counts of wounding with intent, two counts of male assaults female, one count of indecent assault and one of assault with intent to injure.

He was found not guilty of wounding one woman by taking out six of her teeth, wounding her by attempting to remove more teeth with a screwdriver, rape and injuring a woman by cutting her toes.

Worth noting that Hansen tried to get his name suppressed last year as he was setting up a house painting business, but prosecutors fought it, saying the public had a right to know the serious charges he was facing if they were thinking of hiring him.

Hansen has been jailed for six years, with the judge saying there was a 'torture-like sense' to his crimes.

Now he's been sentenced, it has been disclosed he has five previous convictions for assault - three of them on children.

It wasn't just pulling teeth - he tried to choke one girlfriend. I hope someone keeps a close eye on him when he's released.

She described the pain she felt when he ripped out her tooth and said she had been deceived when he said he wouldn’t do it again.

They moved in together and she awoke to find him choking her and trying to extract her teeth, before he sexually assaulted her.
