[h=1]MAN KILLS IMAGINARY FRIEND, TURNS SELF IN, TAKES WORLD'S SADDEST MUG SHOT[/h]
Geoff Gaylord walked into a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and confessed to his crime: he had repeatedly stabbed his friend "Mr. Happy" with a kitchen knife, cut up Mr. Happy with a hatchet, and buried him in his backyard. Let me remind you again that this occurred in Florida, so perhaps it should come as a surprise to no one.

Gaylord and Mr. Happy were friends for seven years but, according to Gaylord, he killed him for a few reasons:

"He left his empty vodka bottles all over the kitchen... never picked up his empty cocaine baggies...He messed up my apartment to the point where I just couldn't get it clean...Before Hap started doing drugs and acting weird he was my BFF...We'd go dancing, play on the children's park equipment, both huge fans of doom metal – listened to it for hours with the lights turned off."

Editor's Note: So apparently this story comes from a phony site. Oh well. Even the smartest people in the world (read: Mandatory editors) get fooled every now and then. Enjoy the story anyway.

Ha!!! So perhaps we can't file this under crazy Florida stories after all? Oh well, an imaginary article for an imaginary murder, of an imaginary friend .. seems fitting :)

The saddest part was I immediately looked at the name to see if I knew him! Lol

The original photo came with news media WTSP's logo, but I'm danged if I can find the original arrest story on their site. The name isn't bringing up anything, but I only searched a couple of pages. Seems certain he was arrested for something, and was very sad about it.

The fake viral story seems to have originated here, as one of several 'snapshots of the apologetically jailed'.

ETA: They didn't start the fake story, but I think that's where someone picked the photo to go with the imaginery, imaginery friend story - though I think it may have elements of the truth but no-one has linked the original arrest.

If anyone is still interested, there is a former professional wrestler named Jeff Gaylord who was jailed in 2009 for 6 years, for bank robberies. I think he'll have been released now. That was in Colorado though. But googling images of him, I'm thinking that could be his arrest photo?

Here's his wiki entry, with one photo.

I saw this yesterday. It's really unusual but looks like it's best they got this guy off the street. Seriously, what is going on in Florida ? I noticed several years ago the craziest stories come from there and it seems I'm not alone . When I read this story , it had a heading '' naturally this happens in Florida'' or something like that. What the heck is in the water down there?

ETA ,,, fake story .......... I'm sure it's true somewhere .

The page I have linked below titles the photo "Billy Southern failure to appear". So it appears that's the real name and reason for the mugshot.

Geoff Gaylord, 37, entered the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office earlier today and turned himself in for killing his imaginary friend — Mr. Happy. Gaylord told officers he had stabbed Mr. Happy repeatedly with a kitchen knife, cut up the body with a hatchet and buried the victim in his backyard.

Have at it guys! I'm not risking a T/O. :floorlaugh:

Did they do some digging in the guy's back yard to be sure his friend was really just imaginary? He sounds like a candidate for the mental ward at the hospital.
