John Gorton, a former prime minister of Australia who died in 2002, spent the grand sum of $2.69 on phone calls in the first half of 2014, recent records released by a government department reveal.

The Sydney Morning Herald goes on to explain why living politicians have such high phone bills in comparison, and why former ones get a phone allowance, but doesn't give a clue how a deceased one can be making any calls at all.

It seems the mystery of the ghostly calls from the grave will remain just that, for now.
