An October retrial has been ordered for Allan Bradley McIntosh after a Perth jury was unable to reach a verdict in his trial for the 2011 murder of Diana Matthews.

The Supreme Court trial had heard Ms Matthews was only unconscious after being strangled and she had actually drowned about three hours later.

Prosecution said Matthews was murdered for her drugs and money; defence argued another woman, denied free drugs, had committed the crime.

I am just wondering if prosecution let the jury know how low the statistical possibility is that a woman would strangle an unrelated adult woman, manually, without a ligature. Just one example: In this important study from Finland, out of 61 cases only 9 were female perpetrators. And four of them had strangled their own children.

It's extremely unlikely the perp in this crime was a woman, in my opinion.

From last week:

https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/w...h-to-serve-20-years-for-death-of-meth-dealer/

A father of five who strangled his meth dealer and then dumped her unconscious, but still alive, in a cemetery reservoir will serve at least 20 years in jail on a life sentence for murder...

McIntosh and a co-offender, Rebecca Hall, had met Ms Mathews at a park in Baldivis that evening to buy or be given methamphetamine and noticed she had a big amount of drugs and money. They organised to meet her again at the same park later that night and while in a van, McIntosh reached from the back seat and strangled her, probably with a piece of wire...

Hall is serving a fixed 11-year jail term.
