After France objected, Belgium was forced to destroy 180,000 newly-minted 2 coins celebrating the defeat of the French hero Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo, 200 years ago.
Now Belgium has found a way around the objection, by using an exception that allows countries using the Euro currency to issue special coins of 'irregular' denominations. 70,000 2.5 collectable Belgium coins went on sale Monday - priced at 6 a pop. French officials are yet to comment on the latest development.
