What's being done to find Chillicothe's missing women?
Local, state and federal partnership now working non-stop to help solve disappearances

The body of 38-year-old Timberly Claytor was discovered about 11 a.m. May 29 off Trego Creek Road, according to the Ross County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff George Lavender said Claytor had been shot three times in the head.

Though Claytor was not one of the missing women, the discovery of her body and the release of law enforcement's main suspect, Jason McCrary, 36, caused a community push for answers.

•The facts

The troubling trend of missing women began a little more than a year ago....

Continued at link.

"Those with information on any of the missing women can call the Chillicothe Police Department at 740-773-1191 or call the Southern Ohio Crime Stoppers anonymously at 740-773-TIPS or 800-222-TIPS, by texting LOWDOWN to CRIMES (274637), or on their website at www.southernohiocrimestoppers.com.

A tip line for the task force looking specifically into the missing women can be reached at 740-773-FIND (3463)."

CHILLICOTHE'S MISSING WOMEN: 'These Girls Knew Each Other' ... And Now They're Gone

"These girls all knew the same people," Lancaster's sister-in-law, Kadie Lancaster, told HuffPost. "I think it's possible these and other cases, as far off as Michigan, are all connected."

Megan Lancaster, the mother of a 9-year-old boy, was last seen in Portsmouth on April 3, 2013. Her vehicle was later found abandoned at an area business. Portsmouth is a city located about 45 miles south of Chillicothe.

"When Megan disappeared, they all started disappearing," said Kadie Lancaster.

This is all very interesting. My boyfriend is from Columbus, a little less than an hour north of Chillicote. I'm gonna read through all this info and see if I can put something together on the similarities/differences. I'll map it, too. Check back in a few hrs.

The Portsmouth Police Department released a statement Thursday saying the missing women cases from their area do not seem to be connected to those in the Chillicothe area.

"It is very important to the families of those affected that false hope is not created as a result of information being reported in the mainstream media, social media, or through other information sources," Portsmouth Chief of Police Robert K. Ware said.

On May 3, 2014, Charlotte Trego disappeared. Exactly six months later, Wanda Lemons disappeared. Six months later, Tiffany Sayre disappeared.

Meanwhile, the police continue to ask for help from its small community with less than 20,000 residents, located about 45 miles south of Columbus.

"Somebody knows what happened," Meyers says. "If there's no physical evidence, then we're going to have to rely on folks to pick these pieces up and give us part of the puzzle."

Portsmouth is in Scioto County so this would include Megan Lancaster, I wonder or just those from the City of Portsmouth?

You know what? This is confusing but I think I'll go with the Sheriff instead of police. Sheriff would be over Scioto County instead of just Portsmouth.

Lt. Mike Preston, with the Scioto County Sheriff's Office, sits on the new task force set up to find these women.

"We want answers," he says, "Our sincere hope is that we find these missing women somewhere alive."

UPDATE: Missing Chillicothe Women - Task Force Grows
June 11, 2015: http://www.myfox28columbus.com/news...---Task-Force-Grows-147974.shtml#.VXp96Pmqqko

Missing right now are Wanda Lemons, Tiffany Sayre and Charlotte Trego.

The task force set up to help find these women includes officers from the Ross County Sheriff's Office, Chilicothe Police, The FBI, the State highway patrol, the State Attorney General's Office, nearby jurisdictions, and from the private sector, representatives from the Domestic Violation Coalition, and a representative from a human trafficking coalition.

Is Shasta Himelrick on this list? Her death was ruled a suicide, but her family is questioning it.

This Huffington Post article says:

Family members told HuffPost they not only suspect each of the missing women cases in Chillicothe are linked, but they also believe other cases, including the May 2014 death of 30-year-old Tameka Lynch and the December 2014 death of 20-year-old Shasta Himelrick, could be connected.

THANK YOU!!!! This is all so strange....

I'm not sure if there has been discussion about the mapping/locations of these girls' disappearances, but I am currently putting a map together with a layer for each woman. Did you guys realize that at least three of these women went missing from almost the exact same street corner? Within yards of each other...

It also says "Police found blood inside the vehicle and a razor blade near the center console, according to Shirley Himelrick." and "A copy of the autopsy report obtained by HuffPost states "six superficial incised wounds" in a "parallel orientation," were observed on Himelrick's left forearm. The injuries could suggest a possible suicide attempt."

"Also pointing in that directions was an unsent text message on Himelrick's cellphone. She allegedly wrote the message to Owes, telling him she was sorry and that she loved him, according to Shirley Himelrick."

JMO but I think Shasta did commit suicide.

Portsmouth Police Find No Connection to Missing Girls

Portsmouth Police say they have found no connection between cases they are working on and a working group focusing on missing girls in the Chillicothe area.

The Portsmouth Police Chief said that his office is not an active participant in the working group or task force in Ross County, but said that they will continue to communicate with members of the group and exchange information that may be of importance to their investigations.

Does anyone who is more versed than I am in court/crime records have interest in tracking the suspect in Claytor's death? Jason McCrary.

I feel like I remember seeing somewhere that he also has a few alias names?

From this link:
A man arrested and jailed on May 31 on an unrelated charge is the main suspect in Claytor’s death, the sheriff said at a news conference last week. But he couldn’t answer the broader questions: Was that man a suspect in the other cases? Was this all coincidence? Were these cases linked?

Has anyone done any preliminary research on this guy and when/where/why he has been jailed in the past?

It's also less than 1.5 miles from the Speedway at the end of Main where Shasta Himelrick was last seen on surveillance video.

Cause of death was drowning. The amount of drugs in her system were not enough to kill her, and the wounds on her wrists were superficial. I'm not convinced her death wasn't set up to look like a suicide, and I hope it's being investigated in connection with the other murdered and missing.

She left the house after receiving a text, and was seen on a surveillance videotape at 3:15 a.m. on Friday at the Speedway gas station at 1136 E. Main St. in Chillicothe.

Shirley Himelrick said authorities have assured her the case is still open.
"They told us they haven't closed it yet," she said. "They said they are still following up on some things."

I found another victim from Scioto County who appear to have some similarities with the other women from the Chillicothe area that are missing or murdered.

The victim’s name is Jennifer Sue Shepherd, 34, of Franklin Furnace, Scioto County, Ohio. She was the mother of three children.

Jennifer Sue Shepherd was last seen on the evening of Saturday June 15, 2013 in Portsmouth in the area of Murrays Pub and the Fast Stop Convenience Store.

Her body was found floating in Pine Creek, off the Ohio River at Wheelersburg on the afternoon of Monday June 17, 2013. It was thought that her body floated into Pine Creek due to the high water on the Ohio River.

According to Scioto County law enforcement authorities, the victim had previous arrests for prostitution. It was never revealed how Jennifer Sue Shepherd was murdered.

This occurred two months after the April 2013 disappearance of Megan Nicole Lancaster. Megan Nicole Lancaster was from Wheelersburg, Ohio and she also disappeared from Portsmouth, Ohio.
