PA - Eleven injured in West Philly block party shooting, 20 June 2015

At least seven young people, including a 2-year-old and a 10-year-old, were injured in West Philadelphia after a shotgun-wielding attacker fired at a street picnic, local police said. The children are in a hospital in critical condition.

The report comes almost simultaneously with news from a block party in Detroit, where one person was killed and 9 injured in a shooting on the same Saturday evening.

Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker tells WCAU-TV ( http://bit.ly/1Lr1OrS ) the shooting happened around 10 p.m. Saturday in West Philadelphia. He says it looks like the gunman just randomly fired down the street and hit anyone in the way.

Walker says both children were taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in critical condition, and the toddler had a wound to the neck. He says the other victims ranged in age from 15 to 25 and were taken to another hospital in critical condition.

Harley and Lamar were looking for a person in that area and appeared to open fire randomly. Both have a criminal background and will face several charges when arrested including attempted murder and aggravated assault.
