Kuwait - Deaths, many injuries in suicide terror attack at mosque during Ramadan

It's looking like we have coordinated terror attacks happening in various countries. Lets hope they end soon, there maybe more.

I was fearing that myself. I really hope not. Co-ordinated attacks from France right through to Somalia is a dreadful thought.

25 dead and over 200 wounded, according to latest reports. Over 2000 people were in the mosque.

It's the first terror attack ever on a Shia mosque in Kuwait. An IS-affliated group has claimed responsibility.

Ramadan had brought fears of new Islamic State attacks

Ramadan is seen as time of action for the extremist group, which sees the month's religious importance as an added imperative for jihad, and its traditions as an opportunity to go on the offensive.

"The Islamic State has a history of making dramatic moves during Ramadan. Last year, for example, the group declared its "caliphate" on the first day of Ramadan, with Islamic State spokesman Abu Mohammed al-Adani declaring "a new era of international jihad."

Is this happening in revenge for some other event that IS is offended over ? Why a mosque ?
Is it because it's a Shia mosque --and is it right to assume the attack was carried out by Sunnis ? I've read a while back that they are in conflict.

Such a sad day today for the wounded and families of the deceased. My god. :furious:

I think back to how when the US first began battles in Iraq and Afghanastan how the US has always gone out of its way to be very respectful of places of worship and avoiding those kinds of targets even when the enemy and Taliban were known to be using them as hideouts.

The terrorists themselves are just the opposite. They dont mind at all killing people in places of worship and in fact go after those kinds of targets.

It just shows the brutality and evil they have.

IMO
I've become convinced that there is no reason or any valid type of justification.
Its just what these type of groups do. They love to kill, maim, torture.
Its what they do. They enjoy it.

Its pure evil and hatred of anyone who is not with them.

And what is so mind boggling is how people actually want to join these groups.
Why would anyone want to join them?

To think some people actually leave their own countries and pursue trying to join them. WTH?

The bomber has been identified as a Saudia Arabia citizen who just arrived in Kuwait Friday. This Washington D.C. journalist also says the car the bomber was driving belongs to a man called Jareh al-Salehi, whose twitter shows him reading and favoriting al-Qaeda tweets.

The Kuwait Ministry named the bomber as Fahad Suleiman Abdulmohsen Al-Gabbaa. He was also using a false name. The owner of the car he was driving has been arrested and is an illegal resident of Kuwait, born in 1989. A video of him praising Imam Ali's devotion to his mother is posted on that Washington journalist's twitter feed that I linked above. He's wearing the exact same headdress as the suicide bomber so I didn't post his photo as it could lead to confusion.

The landlord of that car owner has also been arrested.

The article doesn't state the current death toll from the bombing.
