GUILTY MN - Susan Spiller, 68, activist, killed in home invasion, Minneapolis, 16 July 2015 *14 yo charged*

This morning, longer story, no new information pointing to any POI.

"No one was in custody as of Thursday night, which was one of the reason police had not revealed any more details about the types of injuries Spiller suffered before her death.

The area, on the far north end of the city, does not see much police activity in general, which made the crime all the more shocking."

This should be solved soon.

"One nearby resident, who declined to provide her name for fear of retaliation, said that while Spiller didn’t have any enemies, she had confided in several people that a recent altercation with a troubled neighbor had left her shaken and afraid.

Investigators are treating the case as a homicide and so far have made no arrests."

May justice be swift. RIP Susan, thank you for loving your neighbors and neighborhood.

From that FOX article updated - "Recording reveals murdered Minneapolis activist feared for her safety"

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
Just days before her murder, Minneapolis artist and peace activist Susan Spiller gave a prophetic warning during a community board meeting.

"I for one and my neighbor who is a single female, had a fear of retaliation if we blew the whistle on our neighbors," Spiller is heard saying in a recording of the meeting.

:(

Obviously the police must know something here if she and another neighbor "blew the whistle" on other neighbors. Who did they blow the whistle on and for what?

"Her fellow board members allege months of minor problems like noise complaints had reached a tipping point, to where Spiller feared retaliation for blowing the whistle."

I'm going to take a guess that there was a "problem" property nearby. I've been through this myself and was terrified of the people that lived across the street (always renters). I complained plenty but always anonymously as I feared retaliation. The police said we HAD to complain. They couldn't just go by the house every day (crimes taking place every day) because that would be "harassing" the criminals.

The only thing that was mentioned that I read, was regarding noise complaints and/or garbage. There has to have been much more to it. It doesn't add up.

It seems there had to have been far worse secrets hidden. I suppose some people are just evil and deranged. Perhaps there was no motive.

Such a sad case. LE extremely tight-lipped.

Walk Held in Memory of North Minneapolis Community Leader:

"Ann Moe—who attended the walk and is adopting Spiller’s Greyhound, Lilly—said the walk was a way to focus on the positive influence Spiller had on those around her."

Praying for justice for Susan.

Press checked police records for prior 2 yrs. - this murdered old'ish lady had made zero 911 calls to police in that time frame.

I would, of course, 1st suspect the 'unstable' neighbor who left this lady in fear---police, of course, have not told us who that is, plus Zippo police reports. Also, whoever this older lady's confidant was hasn't got the word out publicly (but I s'pose if that neighbor can't be deemed a 'person of interest', then press wouldn't name names, correct?)

Second guess would be if this lady spouted off at her neighborhood gatherings against drugs, and, or guns (but prob' drugs), then I would think it sensible that a little group of 2 or 3 young ****s would have deliberately come to murder her if an awful way, you know, 'We'll teach her ('them'-the neighborhood activists) a lesson'. I wonder what the heck goes through the minds of these young people who do all these horrible things? S'pose they're just doing what they learned....

There are some real nice photos of Susan at a You Caring site for her.

"This fund will be used to help with funeral costs as well as start an annual scholarship to one deserving high school student to help them pursue their love of the arts."

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send an anonymous tip to CRIMES (274637) and begin message with: TIP674 or call the MPD tip line at 612-692-TIPS (8477). The case numbers are 15-263264.

I am very disturbed that there has been no update on this case from the Minneapolis Police Department.

She may not have called police but the killer may have thought she did. There was a "We watch We call" sign in her front yard. This may have just been a neighborhood watch sign, but to someone with a temper who feels that she called the police on him or is watching him it could be a motive.

This link has a picture of the sign:
