SC - Savannah V Morgan, 25, found w/dying 2 yr old, 90 animals in house, 25 Jul 2015

Dreadful. I'm guessing the injured child is a twin, as there were two, 2-year-olds in the home?

The link has the whole mugshot. What a sad, strange case. Sounds like there are some hoarding issues, among other things...

Father arrested, out on bail. Savannah Morgan is 8 months pregnant. No update on two year old's condition, but he was critical and unresponsive still on August 2, 2015. He has bleeding in the brain. Unbelievable!!!

This is awful...where in the world were these children sleeping? It's a wonder they all weren't bitten by rats or tarantulas! Someone, somewhere had to have seen this home at some point!

P.S. This is SOUTH Carolina, not NORTH.

August 2015:

Deputies arrested Batton on Saturday. It took time to arrest him because they needed a parent to make decisions on behalf of the 2-year-old in the hospital, Stiles said...

Joel Turner, a Law Enforcement Officer with Victim Advocate said the child has a long road to recovery.

"He has bleeding of the brain," Turner said.

The judge also said Morgan cannot own animals until the case is over.

A father of three, including a toddler found unresponsive in a Gray Court home with more than 70 dead animals, is out on bond after deputies charged him with child neglect and ill-treatment to animals.

Matthew William Batton, 25, of 1922 Martins Lake Road, Gray Court was charged with three counts of unlawful neglect of children and one count of ill-treatment to animals.

The animals included cats, dogs, rodents, and reptiles, some of which were poisonous. 80% of the animals were dead. The dead bodies consisted of 3 dogs, 6 dead tarantulas, 4 bearded dragons (2 dead), 4 snakes, 10 dead pythons, two turtles, 11 dead gerbils & 48 dead rats.

The animals were reportedly found in plastic bins and other cages. Two dogs were chained behind the home and were severely malnourished.

Pictures of the emaciated dogs available at link :(

On his fb, dad says it's all lies and there was no faeces and no dead and dying animals. He put up a few pictures of a few of the animals to show they were healthy. The place does look pretty clean in the pics but I'm guessing they were taken when they first moved in. According to her Facebook, they bought a house in Gray Court in June 2014. He was complaining that the allegations are all over the Web and he is getting insulted on snake forums.

He says he doesn't know what happened to the toddler because he was at work. He says only Savannah knows what happened. Doesn't stick up for her.

I can't find any updates on the child's condition anywhere.

I wonder if the dead rodents were to feed to the snakes. The birthday pictures of the twins look pretty nice except for the ones where the babies are petting the snake!!! I guess the twins are a boy and a girl. (The boy has long hair and is beautiful!)

Fagan said she saw her grandkids regularly at her own home, but didn't always go to her son's house.

But she said every time she saw photos of the kids in their house, they were clean and the home looked well kept. So it was shocking to find out what had happened to her 2 year old grandson.

The doctor told her, Abel had shaken baby syndrome.

This seems so strange to me, she had another baby late August 2015, they get married in November 2015 and she starts working in December 2015. Pictures of all 4 children on fb. How is this possible? Just happily ever after, no jail time?

Raymonde, The child is most likely in a long-term care/rehab hospital or nursing skilled care home. He will likely have problems all his life, however long that is.
