On December 30, 1998, Darren Fortier was last seen walking alone in a rain storm, south on Highway 19 from Port Hardy at approximately 8:00pm. He disappeared without a wallet, money or identification. Hunters and hikers alike in the North end of Vancouver Island Are encouraged to be aware that if any pins and plates or braces are located to Contact the RCMP in the area. Darren has been declared as legally deceased. He was never located and his family remain hopeful of Darren being found."
