A local woman accused of murdering her boyfriend allegedly offered kids cash to clean up the crime scene.

Theresa Romano, 45, was arraigned Friday morning on a murder charge.

She stabbed Robert Jarnigan, 52, to death Thursday night at their home on Aspen Street in Middletown, authorities said. She then allegedly offered three neighborhood boys money to help move Jarnigan's body into a storage shed in the side yard.

One of the boys called 911.

According to people who called 911, the suspect paid three boys in the neighborhood to move the body.

Moments after that, the victim's son came home and found his father dead.

The first of two calls to 911 came from boys walking down the 2500 block of Aspen Street, where Teresa Romano allegedly had been trying to drag Robert Jarnigan from the sidewalk to a small storage shed next to their well-landscaped Riverside Village mobile home, police said.

Two of the boys who assisted Romano in dragging Jarnigan to the shed were 13 and the other was 10, Owens said. The boy who apparently used a cell phone to call 911 dispatchers, at 6:59 p.m., said that “her husband was lying on the sidewalk ... She had us, like, pick him up and put him in the shed and stuff.”

The boys also told the dispatcher that after the body was put in the shed, Romano locked it and left in a truck.

A minute later, Jarnigan’s son, Travis, 21, called 911.

“I need a paramedic now,” Travis Jarnigan said on the 911 call. “He’s in the shed and not breathing at all. ... His neck is purple and blue and he’s really cold.”

Travis Jarnigan told dispatchers he knew CPR and that he was going to hand the phone to his grandmother, Lois Jewell of Franklin. As Travis Jarnigan tried to help his dad, Jewell kept telling dispatchers to “hurry it up” in assisting paramedics to reach the scene, according to the 911 tape.

During the call, Jewell told dispatchers about the boys who helped Romano carry her former son-in-law into the shed.

Jewell told The Journal Thursday night that Romano gave the boys $1 each for helping her. Owens declined to comment Friday about any money Romano allegedly gave the boys.

However, Owens confirmed the ages of the boys and said they would not be charged in the incident.
