"Police investigators are on the hunt for a suspect who they believe is responsible for four sexual assaults dating back to August in Newmarket.

York Regional Police Const. Andy Pattenden says the force is especially concerned because the assaults seem to be increasing in severity. The attacks have been happening in the area north of Upper Canada Mall, near Davis Drive West and Yonge Street.

In a news release, police are warning the public to use extra caution when travelling in that area, be aware of surroundings and avoid being distracted.

York Regional Police each case being investigated appears to involve a suspect targeting "small-statured, thin females who may be distracted by using their mobile phones or listening to music through headphones."

A sexual assault in Newmarket Tuesday has police looking into whether there may be a serial prowler on the loose.

Details on Tuesday’s incident, which occurred in the area of Yonge Street and Green Lane at around 11:30 a.m., were not immediately provided.

Police have confirmed the suspect description is similar to that provided of a man wanted in connection with four previously linked incidents which have occurred in the area.

“Suspect is targeting females wearing headphones or distracted by their phone,” York Regional Police said in a tweet Tuesday afternoon. “Be aware of surroundings.

“We believe the suspect is spending time pacing the neighbourhood looking for victims. Call us if you spot anyone matching the description of the suspect in the area of Yonge/Bathurst/Green Lane/Davis.”

The thread title says 4 victims, but to clarify it is now 5 victims, hope he is stopped before he gets to number 6! imo

Police say five women were approached by a male suspect between Aug. 18 and Oct. 13, sometimes while they were distracted by sending text messages."

From what i gather, perp seems to attack on Tuesdays and sometimes Friday, attacks all occurred in daylight, open spaces.
He seems to swings right arm and foot, slight limp or flat-footed right foot, imo.

" The latest video clip released shows a man who was walking near the location at the time and where the offence occurred, police said.

This ‘person of interest’ is seen in the video walking in a grey hoodie and grey pants along a sidewalk.

Police say they would like to speak to this individual.

In a more aggressive incident that occurred on the morning of Sept. 25, police say an 18-year-old woman was walking on Aspenwood Drive when she was pushed to the ground. The suspect allegedly tried to pull clothes off the woman, before a passerby intervened and the suspect fled the scene.

Police say they are investigating a total of five incidents that occurred between Aug. 18 and Oct. 13 in the area bounded by Highway 9, Green Lane, Yonge and Bathurst streets."

“We know they were in the area at the time, and we would basically want to speak to them and have a conversation and determine what were you [doing] in the area. Did you see, did you hear anything,” Const. Laura Nicolle told 680 NEWS.

Since Aug. 18, there have been five similar sexual assaults near Upper Canada Mall, the latest one happened this past Tuesday.

Police say no tip is too small.

“We’ve received tips through a number of different means – people taking pictures, people calling in saying I think I know who this person is. It just helps us to narrow it down,” Nicolle said".
 
This is weird, yet another string of sex assaults ( forcible kissing) in Newmarket, one close to where the other offender attacked someone, different description of perp. in this case.

The victim, a 17-year-old girl, can be seen walking down a sidewalk as she is followed by a man wearing what appears to be a grey hooded sweatshirt and yellow athletic shorts with a black strip on the side.

The victim and suspect both walk off camera. A few seconds later, the suspect reappears in the frame running in the opposite direction down the pathway.

Police are seeking the public’s help identifying a male suspect involved in an alleged sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman in Newmarket early Friday morning.

Police say the victim was walking westbound on a pathway that runs parallel to Davis Drive near a GO bus terminal on Jan. 1 before 3 a.m. when she was approached by a man who grabbed her, forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.

The man is described as male, approximately 5-foot-9, with a lean build. He is between 30 and 50 years old. At the time he was wearing a light-grey jacket, a black hoodie, a black neck warmer and black boots.

A witness in the area at the time came forward and spoke to police, but police believe there may have been other witnesses in the area around the GO bus lot at Davis Drive and Eagle Street. They are encouraging anyone with information to contact police at 1-800-668-3641 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

GO Transit officers will be at a Newmarket bus station today showing commuters an artist’s rendering of the suspect in a violent sexual assault that took place on a nearby pathway in the early hours of 2016.

According to police, an 18-year-old female victim was walking westbound on a pathway that runs parallel to Davis Drive from the Newmarket GO bus station at around 3 a.m. on Jan. 1 when she was approached by a man who grabbed her, forced her to the ground and then sexually assaulted her.
