Identified! UK - Isle of Wight, Male body in kayak on beach, Sep'15 - Morgan Savage

He had an Irish accent. I reckon he was living in the uk for a number of years and isn't in regular contact with family which is why he hasn't been reported missing.

His clothes and the fact that he was able to buy a kayak for hundreds of pounds make me think he had an ok job and was middle class irish. Maybe he lived in London and got the train down south.

This is in the Irish Independent newspaper so hopefully someone will recognise him soon.

Edit - he bought the kayak in newhaven rather than brighton.

The man, who Police are struggling to identify, is described as white, approximately mid 20s-mid 30s with blue eyes and dark hair. He is said to have nice teeth and is well built. He was wearing a beige pair of shorts and a blue zip-up jacket.

Island Echo understands a receipt found in the deceased’s shorts led Police to discovering his last known movements.

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call Newport CID on 101, quoting 44150315983.

Interestingly, a black rucksack was found on the catamaran, and the missing man was wearing a black rucksack in the CCTV footage.

EDITED TO ADD: ignore me, it seems that a backpack was found with the man in the kayak according to "The Argus" article

Both quite strange stories tho huh.
 
The kayak guy was well built and had nice teeth, he looks very "middle class" to me. Dean Roche had big drug problems and looks pretty scrawny and his mum believes he was murdered. I see what you mean about the face being similar but doubt any connection.

I've posted his picture on reddit in the hope someone irish might recognise him. Hampshire police posted a video today on facebook so we know he is still unidentified.

I think this is a suicide from another city or country who traveled to where he was found to conceal his identity. I believe he will eventually be identified, once his story is more widely publicized.
 
Hampshire Police are now saying he has now been identified.
 
IDENTITY OF DEAD KAYAKER CONFIRMED FOLLOWING APPEAL

Today (Monday) Police have confirmed that the deceased’s next of kin have been informed of his death.
Formal identification will now take place ahead of the man being named publicly.
Hampshire Constabulary have said:

“We would like to thank the public for all their assistance in sharing our appeal”.

Sad for his family, but at least he can be laid to rest.
 
One of his friends messaged me on reddit to thank me for starting a thread on the story. They said he was very loved and will be sadly missed. Apparently a family member saw the e-fit and recognised him - I can't even begin to imagine how horrid that would have been for them.
