Sarasota County deputies are searching for a 9-week-old boy missing from North Port and are trying to determine what his parents may have done before they left Florida recently.
Chance Walshs family contacted law enforcement Sunday to report he hadnt been seen since Sept. 9, according to Sarasota County Sheriffs Office.
His parents, Kristen Bury and Joseph Walsh, are longtime drug users, deputies said, and family hadnt been able to check on his well being as a result.

At this time, the Sarasota County Sheriffs Office has charged Chance Walshs parents, Joseph Walsh and Kristen Bury, with child neglect. They are each being held on $150,000 bond in Jasper County, SC, awaiting extradition to the Sarasota County Jail. A Sarasota County detective traveled to South Carolina to interview the parents.
Arrest paperwork indicates cadaver dogs found evidence of human remains at the couples home in North Port. There was also blood in various places in the home. The arrest paperwork also quotes Bury as saying she despised Chance because he wasnt her other son, who had died.

Detectives confirmed with their colleagues in South Carolina that there was no baby in the couple's vehicle at the time of the crash and no room for a car seat. They also confirmed with Georgia law enforcement that the couple stayed at an Augusta hotel but there was no baby with them.
A woman staying at the hotel reported that Kristen tried to sell baby clothes to her and that Kristen told her the baby had died three weeks earlier

Records show a cadaver dog alerted to the smell of possible human remains at the family's North Port apartment.
Crime scene techs found blood on the bed, and the walls, door, mirror and light in the bathroom.
