NY - 3 men and "Mom" on trial for sex assault of 2 girls

Henry Kiernan, 41, of Fishkill, one of four defendants in the case, entered the plea on two counts of first-degree rape. In statements to Dutchess County Judge Thomas Dolan, Kiernan implicated co-defendants George Mercer, 46, of Fishkill, and Allan Willig, 48, of Stanfordville.

The girl's mother also was charged in the case, but her identity was being withheld to protect the victim.

Prosecutors said a series of sexual assaults took place against the girl and her younger sister between August 2002 and January 2004.

Mom Pleads Guilty To Getting Daughter, 11, Drunk For Sex


A woman admitted Thursday giving her 11-year-old daughter alcohol so her live-in boyfriend could have sex with her.

The Hyde Park mother, whose name was being withheld to protect the victim's identity, pleaded guilty to attempted rape.

Her boyfriend, 41-year-old Henry Kiernan, pleaded guilty last week to two counts of first-degree rape in exchange for a 19-year prison sentence.

He's one of three men accused in a series of sexual assaults on the woman's two young daughters between August 2002 and January 2004.

As part of the plea deal, the woman faces up to six years in prison. She was jailed pending her Oct. 20 sentencing.

George Mercer, 47, said he let 41-year-old Henry Kiernan of Fishkill bring the girl to his home in 2003.

Mercer pleaded guilty to first-degree rape. By law, first-degree rape applies because he acted as an accessory to Kiernan. Kiernan pleaded guilty to first-degree rape Sept. 16, saying he raped the girl on two occasions.

A Stanfordville man, 48-year-old Allan Jay Willig, also has been charged with rape in the case. He pleaded not guilty.

I feel like an island. These people are so reprehensible...what does it take? Is the justice system so broken we can't even recognize the perverts? Do we allow this to continue? This is just rough stuff. Lenient sentences are not the answer.

In the mother's plea agreement, she admitted once giving her daughter alcohol before Kiernan attacked her.
