GUILTY LA - Jeremy Mardis, 6, fatally shot by Marksville LE, 3 Nov 2015

This is a very sad story. Apparently the father of the child had outstanding warrants, had the child in the front seat of his car while being pursued by police. He was unarmed. Police fired and shot both father and kid. However, the body cameras on police showed something more criminal (none of the articles I've read say exactly WHY they were arrested though). Dad survived.

"We took some of the body cam footage. I'm not gonna talk about it, but I'm gonna tell you this. It is the most disturbing thing I've seen and I will leave it at that," said Col. Mike Edmonson at a news conference State Police held Friday night.

Edmonson, the head of the Louisiana State Police, said that 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis "didn't deserve to die like that." He did not go into specific details of the investigation, saying that nothing was more important than "the integrity of the case."

"Let's make tonight about Jeremy Mardis," said Edmonson. "That little boy was buckled in the front seat of that vehicle, and that is how he died."

"State police arrested Marksville Police Lt. Derrick Stafford and reserve officer Norris Greenhouse Jr. Friday night. They were also charged with attempted second-degree murder. Two other officers, Lt. Jason Brouillette and Sgt. Kenneth Parnell, were also involved in the shooting, but have not yet been charged. All four are on administrative leave."

WOW just wow, there is a case filed against these officers in July. You can click on the link under #3.

At this time no warrant has been found..........DA issued a statement that there was no warrant he was aware of against Fey.
Also there seem to be some questions about the fleeing part........the suspects description of events and what actually happened by positioning of the cars and evidence from the scene are not matching up.

The body cam footage it seems came from one of these other 2 officers on the scene and one or the other has said Fey was not acting in a threatening manner.

A civil suit against both suspects for using excessive force had been filled recently and also one was indicted on rape charges a couple years ago(indicted while on the force).......I do not know the outcome of this indictment but would have to guess chargers were dropped soon after or why in the world was he still on the police force.

A lot of smoke here especially concerning Stafford.

The last complaint involving the man and the CC altercation at the carnival should have had a lot of witnesses and if some misconduct on the part of the officer(s) was confirmed...he had no business STILL being on the street considering all the other complaints filed against him.

This is mind boggling to have a list of problems this long follow one officer and it still be left on patrol to create even more before any of them except the 2 counts of rapes were resolved.

How incredibly sad, and I hope the murderers of this child gets the full treatment and is sent to eternity in jail or the chair.
I wonder too what on the body cam was so disturbing, I am guessing the little boy asked for his and his dad's life to be spared but they shot and killed anyway. (Just my guess.)

"The marshals initially said they were trying to serve a warrant on Few, but state police have not been able to find a warrant out for him."
Still none found.
<modsnip>

Hmmm.... Sounds like one of these officers had something personal with his victim...

"Few was afraid of the marshals, she said, because he and and one of the marshals on the scene had a prior personal conflict."

From the link:

Edmonson also said video footage of the incident does exist, but that investigators have not reviewed it. He added that the officers involved – there are four – had so far refused to speak with state police investigators. Police have not released the names of the involved officers.

Whyever would they not review the video footage first thing?!?!

No matter what happened here, an innocent child payed the price...again...and that's the most devastating part. In this case and re: the murder of Tyshawn Lee in Chicago.

Poor baby. I don't even want to begin to imagine what is on the video. Disgusting.

And I understand that we all want to believe only good things about LE... but, until we finally accept that fact that we do have criminals with badges... we won't be able to weed out the good from the bad.

What irks me is that little boys Jeremy's age really look up to LE. And to even think his life ended that way really makes me want to break down and scream. He was probably so scared.

I also really hope that dad was on the "up and up" and didn't put his precious son in a dangerous situation.

R.I.P. Jeremy... I am so sorry.

Lawyer: Motorist Had Hands up as Police Killed His Boy

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/lawyer-motorist-hands-police-killed-boy-35068810

A police body camera recorded the father of a 6-year-old autistic boy with his hands up and posing no threat as police opened fire into his car, severely wounding the motorist and killing his son, the man's lawyer said Monday.

Jeansonne (ZHAN'-sawn) spoke with The Associated Press after a closed hearing in a Louisiana jail where he said the two local marshals were ordered held on $1 million bonds. Derrick Stafford, 32, of Mansura, and Norris Greenhouse Jr., 23, of Marksville, are both charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

CBS has learned it was a third officer who recorded the shooting with a body camera after he responded to a call for backup. According to a source, that officer told investigators Few was not acting in a threatening manner toward police.

Law enforcement confirmed to CBS News they are probing whether one of the officers arrested has a personal grudge against Few and may have sought revenge with gunfire.

Kudos for the prompt arrest and charges in this case.

R.I.P Jeremy. Again, I am so sorry.

I have no words. When a horrific tragedy such as this occurs it makes me question pretty much any and everything....

My heart is extremely heavy for Jeremy and his father. RIP Jeremy. :rose:

There is not much to be happy about in this case but there are a few things that have happened that I am pleased about.

The 2nd degree murder charges.....It might not be too surprising to see 1st degree attempted murder filed against one of the suspects depending on what is found out during this investigation.

The higher bail...........although I would like to have seen no bail because I feel these guys would be a flight risk.

The leak that Few appeared to have his hands in the air when they opened fire.........This should help put a stop to any groups trying to raise money to help these guys post bail or possibly make a bail bondsman want more of a % secured before he posts for them.

The gag order......we know enough at this point to see that the criminal charges are clearly justified.Wait until the trial to release any further evidence so the defense doesn't get to study public opinion on whatever their motives were to pull the trigger and adjust accordingly.I blame all the evidence being disclosed to the public and the defense getting to see what the general public wasn't going to accept as the main reason Casey Anthony got away with murder.

What kills me is this has been on here since Saturday and only 23 people have commented on it.

Who does this if they know there is cameras watching? If there is no warrant, victim had no gun, then these 2 need to hang. I'm usually on the cops side, but not for cold blooded murder.
