Becky Watts’ grandfather John Galsworthy, told reporters that the family had received hundreds of messages of support “each of which have been read with gratitude and love”.

"You have helped us to stand tall and strong again," he said. "What a help you have all been. Thank you for taking us into your hearts.

"We can now begin the process of grieving properly and rebuilding our lives, lives which can never be the same again."

Sentencing in the case will be up to trial judge Mr Justice Dingemans. He said he would pass sentence on Friday.

Nathan Matthews and Shauna Hoare to be sentenced over Becky Watts killing
Published Friday, 13 November 2015
Belfast Telegraph

[...]

A jury took just three hours and 27 minutes to convict Matthews of Becky's murder, while Hoare was found guilty of the teenager's manslaughter.

Both were convicted of kidnap, perverting the course of justice, preventing a lawful burial and possessing two stun gun torches.

Mr Justice Dingemans, who presided over the five-week trial at Bristol Crown Court, will sentence the pair at 10am.

Karl Demetrius, 30, and Jaydene Parsons, 23, who admitted assisting Matthews to hide Becky's body parts in their shed, are also due to be sentenced.

Feeling nervous again now that sentencing day is here. Please put the pair away for as long as humanly possible Your Honour.

The idea of AG's of visiting NM to ask why he did what he did and what exactly happened. I don't think it's possible to understand the way a sick, twisted mind works. No explanation is going to comfort her or the rest of Becky's family I don't think.

Becky Watts's family fear they'll never know what happened to her

[...]

Becky’s stepbrother Nathan Matthews, 28, and his partner, Shauna Hoare, 21, will be sentenced for the sexually motivated killing on Friday.

[...]

Anjie Galsworthy – Matthews’s mother and Becky’s stepmother – described her son as a “monster” but insisted she still loved him and would visit him in prison to try to discover what drove him to murder his stepsister. Becky’s grandmother, Pat Watts, described Matthews’s account of what happened as ridiculous, and said: “I don’t think we will ever know what really happened to Becky.”

The senior investigating officer, Det Supt Mike Courtiour, said both the family and officers were frustrated that they could not be sure of the sequence of events. He said: “Nobody actually knows precisely what happened. We have had an account from Nathan Matthews, an explanation of what he said happened. Nobody knows the precise events.”

CCTV shows Matthews buying a circular saw the day after murdering Becky - staff say he even haggled over the price.
Analysing the footage, former police officer and lecturer in criminology at the University of Gloucestershire, Dr Jane Monkton Smith, said his calm behaviour is especially worrying.
"I would say that puts him somewhere on the psychopathic spectrum and that ability to be able to behave completely normally after you've done something which is absolutely abhorrent is very worrying and is the kind of behaviour that we normally see more in serial killers."

G'morning ya'll...
I trust everyone is well today.
Sentencing....... is anyone else feeling nervous? Kinda tense tummy in a knot kinda feeling.
The Jury got it right and found NM & SH Guilty.
I place my faith with The Judge. And I trust he will hand down sentences that truly fit the Crime that these 2 are guilty of.
The Galsworthy's/Watts and their extended family members will be hoping for the Judge to deliver hefty sentences. Fitting for those who cruelly took a beautiful young girls life. To satisfy their depravity.

"Today is for YOU Bex! May your Memory live on in those who love you. You've won the heart of a nation. And rightfully so. Fly high sweetie.. God Bless" ♡

SH being involved with the planning of the abduction but not physically present in the room would be one way of making sense of the manslaughter verdict. The presence of her and the child could have been a way of making Becky Watts more comfortable about remaining in the house with him, with the other family members out, than she would otherwise have been given the history.

It would make sense IF there was no intention in the original plan to seriously hurt or kill Becky, but something went wrong and NM killed her without SH's involvement. However if the original plan did involve seriously injuring or killing Becky, whether SH was in the room or not makes no difference; she'd still have been convicted of murder due to being charged under joint enterprise.

Very interesting videos there. NM a possible future serial killer if he hadn't been caught. I wish she'd have analysed SH too.

CB's words were heartbreaking.

Everything she, Dr Jane Monckton Smith, said about NM must logically apply to SH too. While there are no videos of SH the day after Becky's death, according to the family they even thought the police had got it wrong when they arrested the pair - they had been with them helping to put out photos of Becky on facebook, everything would seem completely normal with their behaviour. Not people who have killed accidentally or are in shock over what they have done.

In the video with the Dr., she looks at NM's police interview after his confession. She doesn't see remorse in his tears for what he has done, but self-pity.

Agreed. There just was no evidence of the actual plan. You wouldn't normally expect to find any, but if NM won't admit the truth then no one will ever know.
