As for theories that Braxton's killing was the result of a robbery-gone-wrong, police say they're considering all angles.

"I understand the family is saying (that) and we take that into account during the investigation," Olivera said.

But the captain stressed that tips from community members will likely be needed before an arrest can be made.

So far, he said, residents have had little to offer and police little to go on, adding "We have received very little information from the public regarding this homicide."

The family of Harrisburg murder victim Rayon Braxton couldn't stifle their gasps Thursday afternoon as a Dauphin County jury convicted the man accused of killing him of first-degree murder.

Moments later, Braxton's mother, Dereasha Leaks, faced Jerren Stuckey as Judge John F. Cherry prepared to sentence the 26-year-old Susquehanna Township man to life in prison.

Stuckey cursed at her.

"It feels like my heart has been torn out," a tearful Leaks told the judge. "I just thank God for this jury. ... My son deserved justice.

"There's little remorse here, if any," the judge said of Stuckey. "He is going to face the rest of his life incarcerated."

The only hope is that others considering following in Stuckey's path will see his fate and make a U-turn, Cherry said.
