"A Quebec woman missing since Monday was found by luck Tuesday, handcuffed in the back seat of a car cops pulled over in a routine traffic check.

The driver gave chase briefly, but smashed into a tree.

Cops say it appears the woman was abducted from a subway station in Montreal, then driven to Mont-Saint-Hilaire and held in a rented cabin. Police say she was raped repeatedly."

"Man faces kidnapping, sex assault charges after police find handcuffed woman in vehicle
Woman held against her will was spotted following routine traffic check, police say"

"An officer tried to pull the vehicle over after the suspect's licence plates were flagged by their system, Parent said.

When the driver didn't stop, police gave chase and the vehicle sped away. The driver lost control and crashed.

"The car just kept on going and had an accident just at the end of the Beloeil bridge," he said.

Inside the damaged vehicle, police found a woman they believe was being held against her will.

"Police officers say she still had handcuffs on one of her wrists," said Parent.

The woman had been reported missing from Montreal, he said."
