VERSAILLES, Ky. (WKYT) - Versailles police say a 6-year-old boy was stabbed to death during a burglary early Monday morning. Video at link.

The Woodford County Coroner has identified the victim as Logan Tipton, a kindergarten student at Simmons Elementary.

Ronald Exantus, 32, of Indianapolis is charged with murder and burglary. Exantus appeared appeared before a Woodford County judge Monday afternoon for an arraignment.

According to that article, he has no criminal record and is a dialysis RN (his FB also says he is an RN). What the heck happened with this guy??

I hope they can figure out why he was in that house. This story is so bazaar. Stabbing a 6 year old child in the head?!!! That poor family. I cannot even imagine the terror those children felt. It's horrible.

Why stab a sleeping child? If the child was sleeping he couldn't identify the man. This story just seems really strange.

A kindergartner was killed in his bed before dawn Monday morning, when a stranger from Indiana broke into his home, grabbed a large kitchen knife and stabbed the boy multiple times, police said.

Police, neighbors and family in this small Kentucky town are left puzzling over how a man from 200 miles away ended up in the 6-year-old boy's bedroom, and what might have motived him to stab the child repeatedly.

This is heart wrenching! Poor little Logan. Sleeping peacefully and then gone! My deepest condolences to his family and friends. May God comfort you all.

Officers said Exantus admitted to the crime.

A not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf in court on Monday.
