Stacey hasn't been seen or heard from since August 2009, missing from Sumter, SC. In February 2010, a femur from a white female 20-50 years old was found at Folly Beach (Charleston, SC): https://identifyus.org/cases/full_report/8528

Judging from this, Stacey may have been involved with activities or persons her mother didn't like: http://missingfromsc.blogspot.com/2011/05/stacy-renee-lester.html Stacey asked her for a ride to Sumter,SC and her mother said she would not give them a ride to Sumter, but she would take her home so she could clean up.Stacy had a argument with her mother.

DNA is on file for both.

Details of Disappearance
Lester was last seen on August 9, 2009, when she had a common medical procedure at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter, South Carolina. After her release, she called her mother to come and get her. Her sister went to get her instead, but when she arrived, Lester wasn't there. She has never been heard from again. At the time of her disappearance, she was known to frequent the south Sumter area, specifically the Red Bay Road and Vaughn Street area.

Some time after her disappearance, her case was mistakenly closed because law enforcement thought she had returned home. In fact, she had not, and when they found out they reopened the missing persons investigation. Her case remains unsolved.

The memorial site ended up taking nearly two years to complete. The group went from council to council, asking for a piece of property. It wasn’t until April 2021 that Sumter County Council approved a site at 115 N. Harvin St., the location of a former Holocaust memorial that has since moved to a new home.

Fundraisers were held to purchase the light, benches and construction, and it wasn’t until Feb. 17 of this year that the concrete was poured. By the end of the summer, the benches and light were installed.

Several families of missing people from Sumter attended and spoke at the unveiling. Those included family members and friends of Garcia, Willie Hodge Jr., Barbara Nave, Tommy Brailey, Barbara Jenkins, Julia Bean, Naomi Collins, Stacy Lester and Shelton Sanders.
