Found Deceased UK - DJ Derek Morris, 74, Bristol / London, July 2015

Derek Serpell-Morris (aka DJ Derek, a bit of a local character) has been missing from Bristol since July 2015, family and friends have been searching for months. I've just spotted this story on FB and found some ITV links, don't know much more about it than that, but as there has been a possible (photographed) sighting in London this week I thought it was interesting.

Derek was last seen on CCTV in the early hours of July 11 leaving The Criterion pub on Ashley Road. But Avon and Somerset police say travel card records show he took the 10.32am, number 78 bus to Thornbury on the same date.

A fellow DJ believes Derek was chased out of the Knot of Ropes pub the night he went missing

At first I thought the picture wasn't him but when I look at other pictures in the DM, I think it could be him, but if it is, he's lost weight, in his face.

I thought pensioners had a free bus pass that you just showed to the driver as you boarded the bus, then went and sat in a seat. I wonder how his was recorded at 10.32am, do they get swiped these days?

He's been in the DM before too, when he retired from being a DJ. I think he's a bit of a local legend.

The bus recording states he went to Thornbury, I wonder if he knew anyone there or where he went after that. Poor man, if it was him seen in London, I hope he's not living rough.

Well this is a much clearer picture. Look at those shiny shoes, he looks very well dressed. If this man is Derek, I certainly don't think he's living rough. He should be enjoying his retirement in comfort now though wherever he is.

Police have confirmed a photo circulated widely on social media of a man at Waterloo Station is not missing Derek Serpell-Morris - known as DJ Derek.
Avon and Somerset police say they have worked closely with colleagues at the Metropolitan Police who have identified and spoken to the man photographed.

.His great-niece Jennifer Griffiths, 29, said: "We have had some very interesting information.

"One of Derek's friends told us he liked cross-country rambling which we never knew before.

"Apparently this friend used to sit with Derek on coaches after festivals and he would always get off around 20 miles before Bristol so he could walk home."

"Possible" human remains found in Bristol near Cribbs Causeway yesterday (10th March 2016). Family fear the worst.

THE family of missing DJ Derek have been left fearing the worst after human remains were found close to Cribbs Causeway last night.

Police say that it is too early to say whether the body belongs to Derek Serpell-Morris who has been missing since last July.

The last thing known about DJ Dereks' whereabouts was that he caught the number 78 bus from Bristol to Thornbury - which goes through and stops in Cribbs Causeway and patchway - the bus route is here: https://bustimes.org.uk/services/swe_48-78-_-y10

EDIT: Just checked where the body was found and it is just a short walk from Cribbs Causeway Bus station where the bus would have stopped.

That is so sad if it's him.
I hope he was just tired and took a nap and peacefully passed on like that. He seems to have had a good life.
I really thought that picture was of him.

Police believe the body found near Cribbs Causeway last night IS Bristol's DJ Derek:

While the tests necessary to 100 per cent confirm the identity of the person found have yet to be carried out there is enough evidence to say it is most likey the remains of missing 73-year-old Bristol man Derek Serpell-Morris.

Seems the police and family are pretty sure it's him, just waiting for official confirmation and a post mortem. Hoping he died of natural causes and the rumours about him being chased from the pub turn out to be a red herring.
