Man charged with robbery at home of missing 89-year-old

"A 29-year-old man was charged Wednesday with robbing an 89-year-old Central Kitsap man who Sheriff's Office investigators say has gone missing under suspicious circumstances.

Robert Lee Pry, 29, a felon, admitted to investigators he attempted to access a bank account belonging to Robert Archie Hood, who was last seen by his caretaker Dec. 16, and that a gun found in Pry's room had been taken from Hood. But he denied involvement of a robbery, according to court documents. Pry, who goes by the nickname "Bubba," has been charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and possessing a stolen firearm.

However, investigators spoke to a woman who said Pry and another man told her that on Dec. 17 they had gone to Hood's residence on Barker Creek Road, off Tracyton Boulevard, punched him in the face "to knock him out," tied up his hands, stole from him and then returned about 30 minutes later."

Five people have been arrested and a sixth is sought in the robbery and presumed killing of Robert Archie Hood, 89, missing since Dec. 17, say Kitsap County prosecutors in charging documents.

Police and prosecutors allege Robert Pry, 29, of Bremerton, and Joshua Owen Rogers Jones, 26, beat, tied up and robbed Hood and that they had a firearm when they committed the crime, charging documents say.

The girlfriends of Pry and Rogers, Ocean Wilson, 19, and Miranda Bond, 25, respectively, as well as Arnold Mafnas Cruz, 47, of South Kitsap County, and Alisha Small, 33, from Bremerton, are charged with rendering criminal aid for allegedly helping the two robbery suspects dispose of a car at the Emerald Queen casino and attempting to cash forged checks.

Authorities on Monday issued an arrest warrant for Cruz, 47, of South Kitsap County. According to charging documents, witnesses told investigators Cruz helped clean out and bleach the trunk of a car used to dispose of a body.

Oh this is so sad and makes me so very mad. My dad is 88 years old and getting frail to think of something like this happening to him...I'm at a loss for words. Those monsters need to rot in you know where.

Ugh :( this is my home county & have friends that live one street away. This poor man. :gaah:

Why kill the poor man? He was defenceless. Poor man. So sad. I can only hope he passed out and didn't suffer.

At about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, tips led detectives to a body in a container on Santa Maria Drive off North Shore Road, said Sheriff's Office spokesman Scott Wilson. It's the body of an elderly man, believed to be Hood, but it hasn't been identified.

The body was left in the container and taken to the Kitsap County morgue, where the coroner staff and detectives are continuing the investigation.

Earlier Wednesday, court documents revealed that investigators had discovered a freshly dug hole Sunday in South Kitsap, which they believe was intended to be a grave, at the home of a suspect allegedly linked to the robbery. They're looking for the suspect, Arnold Mafnas Cruz, who is wanted on suspicion of first-degree rendering criminal assistance. Bail is set at $500,000.

Five other suspects have been arrested in the case.

Robert Lee Pry, 29, was charged Dec. 23 with first-degree robbery, first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and possessing a stolen firearm. His bail was set at $1 million. Joshua Owen Rodgers Jones, 26, was arrested last week in Thurston County and booked on suspicion of first-degree robbery, with $1 million bail.

Three other suspects — Miranda Elizabeth Bond, 25, Ocean Wilson, 19, and Alisha Small, 33 — were charged with rendering criminal assistance.

I just read this story & it makes me furious! At his age, Mr Hood should have been allowed to live out his life in peace, free from violence.
To the greedy perpetrators, I hope you receive the harshest sentence the law will allow!

Robert Lee Pry's charges now include murder 1. Although the identity of the man they found in Belfair hasn't been released publicly, it's clear it was Mr. Hood, based on the murder charge. Sad thing is, I'm seeing chatter on FB about the people involved in this evil crime. Some of them were "friends" of friends. I say were, because these friends are removing them quickly from their friends list, disgusted they ever knew people that were capable of such wickedness.

SILVERDALE, Wash.*-- An elderly Washington state millionaire who wasfound dead in a plastic barrel about 30 miles from his suburban Seattle homein December was beaten, bound and robbed, according to recently-released charging documents.

Robert Archie Hood, 89, was reportedly last seen by his caretaker at his home in the Seattle suburb of Silverdale on Dec. 16. Investigators believe he was killed around Dec. 17 and that his body was disposed of in an attempt to cover up the robbery. [...]
According to a probable cause statement for Pry, Alisha Small, an informant who had been working with the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office, called a deputy in tears Dec. 19 and told him that she overheard a group of people talking about a robbery of an elderly male they called "Bob Barker." Authorities say the group included two women, Pry, and another man charged with rendering criminal assistance in the case, Robert Davis.

The conversation happened at Davis' Tracyton home.

Small said she heard the group talking about tying up, beating and robbing the elderly man. She said she heard one woman say, "It was a mistake. Things just got out of hand and escalated." She said Davis replied that was happened was "dirty' and needed to be cleaned up. She said the men mentioned needing to get rid of a body and that they needed to "get rid of the car," the documents say.
