This poor little one, malnourished and thin, died from hyperthermia after being left in a crib over 38 hours unattended with a space heater on. Parents were home, in what is characterized as a meth lab.

Mom, who is pregnant, said she heard noises and should have checked on him, but didn't.

They condemned the house due to the conditions.

"This is such a tragic event that's happened. I think if more people knew of our services. Knew that we are here and available and didn't have that fear of using us. We would see more use of the nursery." said Jill Kneemiller of the St. Louis Crisis Nursery.

A "crisis nursery"? That sounds like a good idea.

Here's hoping the sentences (so-called) mother receives are commensurate w the charges. Similar crim charges are still pending against the 26 y/o (so-called) father whose trial is set for April 2017.

"The mother of a 2-year-old boy who died...while his parents allegedly used methamphetamine has pleaded guilty to neglect and manufacturing a controlled substance.Kathleen Marie Peacock, 23, of St. Charles, pleaded guilty on Friday to two felonies: child abuse/neglect and manufacturing methamphetamine.
"....boy in his crib in a back room of the family's mobile home ... for 38 hours near a space heater that did not have a thermostat to shut it off when it got too hot

RIP little Braydon.

I wonder what happened re---
1) crim chg pending at time of Braydon's death. Per Dec 2015 article linked below, prosecutor said:
"... Peacock already had been facing a child endangerment charge filed in St. Charles County in August. “She was alleged to be driving drunk with this child in the car,” he said, referring to Braydon."
2) other baby (she was pregnant w at time of Braydon's death). Poor thing.

Anyone know ^ answers?

Good questions, Al66pine, and thanks for update!

1) according to court site, bench trial scheduled for 2/28, no disposition. Link probably won't hold the specific search, but I put Kathleen Peacock in:

2) JMO, no link, but if I had to guess, new baby is with one of her family members ;)

September 2017:

http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2017/09...s-after-toddler-left-in-hot-room-until-death/

The father of a toddler who was left in a hot room to die, while he and the child’s mother did meth, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison.

Lucas Barnes was sentenced Friday morning after pleading guilty in July to child abuse and drug charges in the death of 2-year-old Braydon Barnes.

The child’s mother, Kathleen Peacock, was given the same 21-year sentence earlier this month.
