Woman who killed husband high on meth sentenced

http://wjactv.com/news/local/woman-who-killed-husband-high-on-meth-sentenced

A woman facing serious charges in the shooting death of her husband was sentenced Wednesday.

Trista Zickefoose was facing charges of first degree murder but pleaded guilty on Monday to involuntary manslaughter. Her plea was accepted. Zickefoose was sentenced five to 10 years in state prison plus 10 years of probation.

Hindman said Zickefoose has two young children who have been staying with family and will continue to do so until she gets out.

"Instead of going to trial where it's all or nothing and she's looking at life in prison, we structured a deal where she would do five years minimum and still have a chance to have a life with her children," Zickefoose's attorney, Blair Hindman said.

District Attorney-Jeff Burkett said he was satisfied with Zickefoose's sentence. He said the victim's family has been supportive of her and was happy with Wednesday's outcome.
