A father and son searching with a metal detector near a creek in Austin located skeletal remains. They don't know yet if the remains are of a man or a woman.

The location appears to be near a new neighborhood, under development at the time of this image:

Police scour Onion Creek area for evidence from Austin teen’s murder

http://kxan.com/2016/09/23/austin-police-searching-for-evidence-from-teens-murder/

Austin police are searching for new evidence in Onion Creek from the 2015 murder of Austin teen Darian Longoria.

“We had to come out today because of the information we’ve been receiving,” said Detective Anthony Nelson with Austin Police Homicide Unit.

While no suspects have been named, an Austin police detective assigned to the case says Darian was involved with the wrong crowd. Detective Nelson says the group sold drugs and killed Darian after holding him responsible for losing some of their product.

“We know for a fact that Darian was a victim of this murder that was brought on by a gang here in Austin, a street gang,” Nelson said.

Ortega faces two additional charges and Arroyo with one additional charge of discharging a firearm during a drug trafficking crime or a crime of violence. Ortega and Arroyo are also charged with one count of possession/use/carrying a firearm in relation to a crime of violence resulting in murder, the Department of Justice said.

Guillerma Longoria says she’s been in touch with police through the whole process. Each day has been a painful waiting game.

“It doesn’t bring Darian back, it doesn’t take the pain away, it doesn’t take the nightmares away.” Instead, in honor of Darian, she’s sending a message to people who may run into the wrong crowd. “Focus on the real love in our life, don’t go and stray to someone that’s going to lead you astray, lead you in harm’s way and possibly take your life.”

Before the sentence came down from U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks, Longoria’s mother addressed the court and said she was unaware her son was “hanging around with older kids.” He was on pace to graduate from high school this year, she said.

“Whatever situation he was in, I don’t think the outcome of taking his life is justified,” she said. “Everything was taken away from him.”

Ortega will be sentenced Thursday and Aguayo on June 22.

Five additional defendants have been sentenced for drug-related crimes in connection with the enterprise. The punishments range from probation to more than three years in prison.
