Will they release COD at some point, if known? I've been to the King Ranch before, on a spiritual retreat, at its southernmost point. Not much but cattle & poverty. Perhaps they're suspecting she was an illegal dropped off by a Coyote(s)?

Nothing photos for her jewerlys, we hope soon to be included in any database.

Namus says White/Caucasian, not sure how that would play out against the coyote theory above. Still no photos uploaded of the jewellery. No PMI but she was not recognizable. Wish there was a recon.

I agree, a picture of something would be nice. The jewelry and clothing are intriguing to me. Several things make me think this was not someone who was merely left behind by a “coyote”. Not to say that couldn’t have been the case, because it just as easily could have been. Just my thoughts.

The way she was dressed. Spandex jogging shorts, t-shirt, a slip?. I know it was during the heat of the Texas summer, but it doesn’t seem like things typically worn by those making that trek from Mexico into Texas. Not usually. The jewelry could indicate several things. The scissors charm makes me think beautician or cosmetologist.

“Trabajo” translates roughly to “work” (maybe “job”), but what exactly is a “trabajo” logo? Just a shirt with the word trabajo on it? That, in and of itself, does not make me think she was from Mexico and happened to meet an unfortunate demise shortly after entering Texas illegally. Many border towns have predominantly Spanish speaking populations.

Gosh” brand shoes (if it’s the brand worn by this UID, and I believe it is) were founded in 2000 and are handcrafted & manufactured in Mexico; factories in Leon, Guadalajara and Sahuayo. However, they do export to mainly the USA, Canada, Japan and Central America. And again, probably things sold at many of the towns along the border; Mexican and American.

Where she was found, off Highway 281 just south of Falfurrias, is only about 45 minutes from McAllen, which is where 281 would lead and right at the border. So maybe they weren’t traveling by foot if she was a migrant being led by a coyote. However, most coyotes aren’t going to “escort” a group very far once they’ve made it across the border. Too risky for everyone involved. Usually the nearest “big city”, which in this case I think would have been McAllen. She could have safely separated from the group and met with foul play at the hands of someone who was willing to “escort” her further inland.

FWIW, King Ranch is huge. Lots of history there. For a little while now, the land in and around there has been leased to oil companies. Oil was/is being pumped constantly and looking at the map you can see oil tank batteries all over the place. Pulling up the map and coordinates listed on this UID’s NamUs, it looks like it lands right in the middle of an area not cleared or being leased by oil companies. Those are my initial observations when looking at the area. Could be a coincidence or another theory of how she ended up there. I’m not sure right off of 281 would have been an ideal location to dump a body in this scenario.

Just some food for thought. There are way too many unknowns in my opinion. If I had to guess though, I’d assume they are thinking she was a migrant and we are not looking for a person listed as missing. I’m not convinced of that (without more information).

People of Latin American descent are often listed just as white/caucasian on NAMUS - they don't always add the Hispanic/Latino qualifier even when they do suspect that ancestry. I wouldn't read that much into her being listed as white.

Hundreds of migrants have been found dead on private ranches in this area, including on the King Ranch. There are interior BP checkpoints on Hwy 281 and Hwy 77, so they try to skirt them and are often found on ranchland nearby.

This has all of the hallmarks of a migrant case, which doesn't make her death any less tragic.

Agree on the cosmetologist/hair stylist due to the scissors charm -- still no pictures of these highly personal, highly identifiable jewelry items?
