Girl charged as adult in murder plot at Denver-area school

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. – One of two 16-year-old girls accused of conspiring to kill students at their suburban Denver high school has been charged as an adult after prosecutors say she bought a BB gun for target practice and mapped plans for an attack.

Prosecutors on Tuesday charged Sienna Johnson with conspiracy to commit murder and asked that she not be allowed to return to Mountain Vista High School in the affluent suburb of Highlands Ranch. Defense attorneys requested a hearing to transfer the case back to juvenile court.

A judge set her bond at $1 million. Prosecutors said Johnson showed no remorse and told investigators that if she were released she would try again and better hide her plans.

The girls were arrested after police were alerted to their plans on Dec. 12 via a text-a-tip program developed for schools.

This article shows pages from her journal:

And this is her weebly page - (which is where the journal pages are from): http://sienna-raine.weebly.com/art.html (it has artwork, poetry, journal pages, family photos, and her biography)

If you reverse image search some of that, it's not even her art.. not that it matters, but always nice for original artists to get credit. She's removed their signatures and added her own.

Edit: same with the poetry, sheesh, is this common with teenager blogs now?

Stolen Emo?

She comes of as someone with the beginning stages of mental illness in the journal entry, to me.

From article published today:

CASTLE ROCK — Friends of one of the two 16-year-old girls accused in a mass murder plot at their high school raised worries about her violent Internet posts at least two months before authorities arrested her.

Concerns about Sienna Johnson brought to a school counselor were investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, authorities say, but the case was dropped because no criminal wrongdoing was found.

"There was no criminal activity," Sheriff Tony Spurlock told The Denver Post. "There was nothing that led us to believe that there was any kind of crime, or potential crime."

This article says the judge has sealed the records for this case, so not sure how much info will come out.

A second girl has also been arrested- Brooke Higgins. Higgins is due back in court on 1/21.

This is interesting- Brooke Higgins' family has hired an attorney and PR company - (most likely the attorneys recommended the PR firm)

"The delay in the move to prosecute Higgins through the adult court system gave Higgins's family the opportunity to lawyer up, as well as to secure the services of GBSM, a powerful Denver-based management consulting, strategic communications and public affairs firm.

Presumably, these pros are responsible for more effectively scrubbing Higgins's social media profile from the Internet than was the case with Johnson, whose Facebook and (fascinating) Weebly pages remain online at this writing.

Moreover, a GBSM associate contacted Westword to ask that we "not publish photos of Brooke given she is a 16-year-old girl and the circumstance of her case (including that it may end up back in juvenile court)." However, the associate added, "If your outlet does choose to publish photos, the family would at least like you to have a high-quality version." "

A Douglas County judge delayed a hearing in the case of a 16-year-old girl accused of plotting to attack Mountain Vista High School until the state Supreme Court officially releases the case after considering a question about mental health records.

The judge expects the court mandate to be released Wednesday in the case of Brooke Higgins, who is charged with planning an attack on the school with another girl, Sienna Johnson, 16.

The two face charges of conspiracy to commit murder and prosecutors have charged them as adults.

One of two teen girls accused of plotting to kill staffers and fellow students at Mountain Vista High School last year pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count each of conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree and murder solicitation in the first degree, both felonies.

Along with a plea agreement, 17-year-old Brooke Higgins accepted a stipulated sentence of three years in the Division of Youth Corrections — the state’s juvenile detention system — and will get credit for the roughly one year she has spent in jail since her arrest.

A newly released affidavit shines new light on how two teens planned to shoot up their Highlands Ranch high school...

Higgins and alleged co-conspirator, 16-year-old Sienna Johnson, planned the massacre at Mountain Vista High School for Dec. 17, 2015, because they thought it would be “the most traumatic” for everyone, the 22-page affidavit revealed.

The plan included Johnson first killing her mom and sister and then heading to the school. After shooting up the school, the teens planned to kill themselves.

Sad. Just lucky nothing came to fruition. Funny how Higgins lawyer (if I recall correctly) was trying to say that Higgins barely knew Johnson and the two cases are unrelated... That seemed to be what he was saying in my opinion anyway. Both such pretty girls, hopefully they'll get the serious help they need and move on from this. Luckily, like I said, it was somehow stopped before it began.

Teen who admitted to HS attack plot sentenced
The teenager who admitted to plotting a deadly attack at Mountain Vista High School was sentenced to three years in the Department of Youth Corrections on Wednesday.

Brooke Higgins, 17, was given credit for the 411 days she already spent in custody on the felony charge of solicitation of first-degree murder.

Once that sentence is completed, she is expected to begin what is known as a deferred judgment on the second felony charge, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. That sentence would require her to stay out of trouble for four years – if she does, that conviction could be wiped off her record. If she doesn’t, she could be sentenced to prison.

(...)

It is not clear whether Johnson’s attorneys and prosecutors are discussing a plea like the one Higgins took.

Johnson remains in custody on $1 million bail. She is scheduled to be in court again Feb. 27.
